I'm almost to the wear indicators on the front at 8500 miles. Will replace around 9 - 10,000. The rear is in better shape wear indicator wise, but it does have a crown. Will probably replace between 10 - 12,000.

Plan to try the BT021's next.

I have over 18,000 miles on the front. I had to change the rear at 5,000 due to a nail hole, and its replacement after 12,000 miles, again because of a nail hole. All of them were getting squared off, and I'm trying to order some BT021's right now as spares.

Whew! until this post, I thought I was the only one who got this kind of mileage out of my tires. I changed my Bridgestones at +17K, and I'm up to 33.5k on the Pilot Roads. I didn't **think** I ride like someone's grandma.

33.5K Miles? Holy crap! I mean HOLY CRAP! Your roads must be made of rubber so it just keeps putting tread back on the tire. ;)

My '02 had a Bridgestone up front and a Dunlop on the rear. the front looks OEM, but I suspect the rears been replaced.
~18.5k mi on it at this point. Front is rapidly approaching the wear bars

I'm at a complete and total loss!!! I dunno how anyone can get these types of wildly high miles on a motorcycle tire!!
Please tell me the secret if there is one....I gotta know. :bow1:

Replacing my OEM's (BT020) this Tuesday with the same. Mileage around 12.5k; still got about 1-2k left on them I think. Just feel I should at this point. Wow! These tires are nice!

I've got just under 7000 km on the OEM BT020's and they still look like new. I'm hoping to get 16000 km which will be about the same milage as Fred.

I will also replace them with the BT 020's. I really like these tires!:D :biker:

I got 7600 miles on mine. The front looked pretty good and probably had another 5K in it but the rear was quite worn in the center and looked like maybe only 2k left. I replaced them b/c I have a 2K mile trip for a class that requires new tires.....

The new Avon Storms are awesome, comparatively! Way more stick and much quicker handling! It will be interesting to see what kind of mileage they get.

I did a 48+ on a new set of 020s and they were toast by the end of the ride - ~12000 miles and I expected that - lots of interstate miles. Rear was pretty well flat spotted, front didn't look too bad and I could have gotten some more miles out of it, but I changed it out anyway.

I think tire wear is dictated by how you drive, temps and how much you depend upon engine braking to slow you down. If you think about it, engine braking does about the same thing as hard acceleration except in reverse and its equally as hard on tires. After I kinda figured this out, I stopped engine braking and used the brakes alone and saw a decent increase in tire life - 15-16K.

My 48+ ride is NOT an indicator of normal tire life because it was mostly I-state driving and unless that's all you do, that's all you're gonna get...

Love the Battleax 020 - they've been great tires for me - and looking forward to trying the 021s.

It seems to me that the critical thing to extended mileage is air pressure at 42....i check mine weekly and have almost 8000 miles on the factory dunlops and it looks like another 3-4 thousand to go. We have good roads in Florida (no potholes) but they do get hot...today's ride temp on the board was 95.:)

7K+ and still goin. I am sure I can get a minimum of another 2K. However, there are so many factors to one's mileage, like load, temperature, air pressure, road condition, style of driving, etc... that it is difficult to calculate a tire's life.

I can't fathom how some of you are getting the types of milage out of your tires. Do you guys RIDE the bike? or just putter along at 50 mph all day, rarely leaning past 10 degrees?

I just got back from a 6000 mile west coast trip spending most of the trip riding the twisties from San Francisco northward. Brand new BT20 'Stones when I started...Front is badly worn on the sides and the rear is shot. The hours of 100mph cruising the High Line in MT and ND probably didn't help, but 15000 miles? Come on!

Never got more than 8000 in the best of conditions on any bike I own. Guess the phrase "YMMV" is very true!:)

I think my tires last as long as they do because I ride in this cold area most of the time. from November to April it doesn't hardly ever get above fifty and many of those days its in the 30's and 40's. Its hard to wear off the rubber of a tire when its as hard as a rock. LOL:eek:

I've never used the 'wear bars', where are they again? I use a tire depth gauge to check the wear on my tires.
