I'll be passing through Austin on my way to FLSToc if you want to add a couple thousand :D....
Would be nice. HOwever, my job has me tied down virtually every weekend from mid-August thru late March. No time to really get away.

Temps down around 40 and in the past two weeks my 04 (battery 4+ years old) started showing signs of needing a new battery (slow crank, reset trip meter/clock). Any good deals on a battery and any news on OEM vs other brands?

I bought my 2007 new in APRIL OF 2007. My original battery started doing the same thing Saturday. 5 1/2 yrs on a battery without a battery tender. I have a tender new in the garage. I take it out of the plastic and try it on my new one.

^ My original battery lasted a bit over 4 years (though its life was probably shortened by getting little use in Riyadh for its last year). The current battery is a Scorpion and will likely replace it with another one.

The poll options don't go that far. I just replaced my original 2004 battery. So, "Nine years with Tender . . ." (with 13,000 miles, I have NOT been frequent as of late). STill love the bike, just not for daily big city commuting.

BTW, I got the battery from the EVERPAR listing on this site: another satisfied customer; can highly recommend.

I last updated in this thread in Nov of '09. Original battery still going after all these years in my '06.

Knock on wood with my fingers crossed . . . :)

I would like to see the POLL results but, I will wait until the stock battery in my '05 that was purchased new on 1/15/07 fails.
It does seem to be turning over less vigorously these days. I'll watch out for the clock and trip meter reset symptom. Thanks to those that posted that information!

My original '04 battery just got changed last year after I killed it dead repeatedly each winter 3 years in a row. I suppose I'd still be using if I had put it on a tender instead. So, it lasted 10 years with abuse.

I have a 2012 and am using a battery tender. I have had to push start it twice at a gas station where I fill up with non ethanol gas. I don't ride my bike every week and I bought it used in 2016 when it had only been in use by the original owner in the same 2016 year. He bought it new but 4 years after production year. I got a battery tender he had with the bike and try to use it frequently but sometimes forget but on the two occasions that I had to push it off, I had pulled the bike out of the garage and went on short trips to see my grandson play ball. What is weird is that it cranked fine at home to start and fine at the ballpark again to leave but then did not crank after the short 10 mile trip to the gas station. Thankfully the bike is not that hard to push off to jump start. A little awkward with the saddle bags and being top heavy but easy to start in second gear. My Harley just locks up rear tire and I can not push start it.

Oh I forgot to say this above... I usually drive short trips around town and come back home and hook up battery tender. I have noticed when I do this, most often the tender shows a red or yellow battery status when I hook it back up. It makes me think the battery is not in good condition so I may end up with a warranty replacement myself if the warranty will cover it. The guy I bought it from said it had a 6 year warranty if that is true.

MG- the battery is shot. Likely it became deeply discharged before it sold in 2016... 4 years is a long time. Perhaps it will be covered under warranty, perhaps not.

As an aside, a "6 years warranty" is not normal. Honda provides a 3 year warranty on the ST1300. Possibly the original owner purchased an extended warranty through Honda (usually adds 4 years for a total of 7), or possibly the local dealer offered a 3 yr 'warranty' (or a 3 year service plan) on their own. You can call a dealer with your VIN and have them look up the warranty period for your bike.

Yes he did give me a pamphlet about the warranty, I believe it was an extended warranty that ran it out to a 7 year total. I need to take it in to the shop anyway because the bike will not crank in gear, it has to be in neutral. I have been tolerating this because I hate to take the bike to the shop but better to go ahead and get this done and see if they will replace the battery. Original owner bought the bike new in March 2015.

I purchased my 2006 ST new in March of 2008. It still has the stock battery. I have never used a battery tender.

Friends tell me I am on borrowed time and should replace it before it fails. I am "moderately frugal" and have difficulty replacing anything while it's still functioning. Maybe I have that rare, one-in-a-million battery that is going to last 15 years. I'll never know if I replace it now.

I had the local dealer replace the OEM battery after about 3 years, then again after another three years. I ran this second battery completely down by leaving the lights on overnight. It had been connected to a BatteryTender Jr. from time to time, but could not be revived by the BT Jr.

I ordered a replacement from EVAPAR that had been removed from some other Honda equipment, but managed to resuscitate the flat battery by charging with a real old-school charger I had. I then alternated the BatteryTender between the bike and the EVAPAR Yuasa that was identical to the ST1300 OEM on the workbench. This was 3 1/2 years ago.

Today I took out the revived and maintained battery that was installed in August 2012 and replaced it with the EVAPAR that has been on the bench since April 2013 at 82684 miles.

I have a 2007 ST1300 with its original battery. I purchased the bike used in 2011. Since I've owned it, it has been on a Battery Tender everyday it's not ridden. I have yet to have a starting or electrical issue, related to the battery.

I should probably take it to my local Les Schwab and have it load tested; it's nearly 10 years old!

I have a 2010 1300 and as far as I know the battery is original. I ride every weekday for a round trip commute of one hour.
