Still have the original in my 03, which I've had since late 02.
Goes on a tender a few times thru-out the winter months.
Seems to be going strong. Can't detect any difference between the day I got it, and now.

Heat is a battery's worst enemy. My ST probably doesn't see half the heat yours does.

I'll probably jinx it by saying this but my '03 still has its original battery too. It lives in my uncooled garage and it was 106 here today. I do put it on a battery tender jr. during the week when I can't ride.

Still on the original with my '03. The battery tender is plugged in right next to where I park the bike. When the bike is parked, the tender is attached. I got 10 years out of the original battery on my PC800.

I bought my 04 last year and had to replace the battery not longer after buying it. The bike had 2800 miles so it didn't get much use in the first two years. I also live in Fla and my garage is like an oven. Luckily the replacement battery was under warranty.

Just remember when a motorcycle battery goes, it goes all at once. It's not like your car where you get some warning. So you could be in the middle of nowhere USA and shut the bike down for some reason and if it chooses that moment to fail it will not even click!

So for those of us that do a lot of touring a new battery is simply good insurance. I replace them every three years regardless of how it is starting.

'03 with the original battery. Keep mine on a tender when it won't be ridden regularly.

I just bought an 06 that was purchased new in Jan of 08. The battery had died on me twice. Is that normal?

I have an 04 with the original battery. I am another one that puts the tender on when I am not riding regularly. Still spins the motor over like day one.

My 04 is going strong, but I ride year round, and never go more then a few days in between rides. Riding often is the surest method of long battery life. I think Uncle Phil had a battery go about 7 years?

You should know that the 04 blue will just FLY!! I hit that supper secret button that only the 04's had and flew over Indiana and Illinois.

My map is the states that I have ridden in on a bike. The East Coast states were before I moved to WA state and then to CA.

My '02 is still on the original battery, as well as my '05 (to be expected).
This thread could use a poll, I don't recall one on battery life.

33 months and 43,000 miles. It got left on for 5 days and it did not recover to my comfort zone so I replaced it.
