Bear with me, I searched the forums but could not find the specific answer to this question.

I am going to start ordering maintenance stuff for my 1300 for this season and the fork oil is on my list. I currently have two 473 ml bottles of SS-8 but the service manual is calling for 638 ml. What isn't clear is if this is the total for both tubes, or is it that much for each tube. It it's the latter, I will need to order another bottle. Thanks.

I can tell you that when I put sonic springs in I used a 16 oz bottle in each. The spacer for the stock shock is different, so not sure there. I would buy 3 16 oz bottles just in case. Just measure and replace what you remove, or go by what the service manual says.

That's what I'm looking for. But again, the SM is not telling me if it's the total capacity or for each tube. They do spec the measured level, which is how I plan to fill. Thanks much!

As per another thread on this subject the 638 ml capacity is PER TUBE so you'd need three 16 oz bottles to have enough for both sides.

So total fork oil capacity for both sides combined is 1276 ml (~43.16 oz = 2.70 16 oz bottles)

LOL, I always get a kick out of threads that come alive 18 months later. But I can tell you that I only needed two bottles to fill to the prescribed level as measured from the top of the fork tube.

Can you share what the prescribed level from the top is? I'm having trouble finding it.

EDIT: Never mind. I was getting confused because of a lot of info was referencing an 1100 and I have a 1300.

62 MM from the top gets mentioned most often.:headbang:

62mm is what the service manual specifies. That is measured with the cartridge properly burped of air, forks full compressed, springs out, from the top edge of the fork tube standing vertical.

Yes and I just read it and most of it didn't make sense.
My info says 2.4 in/ 2.4 oz However that reads
I did my shock oil and seals last month and put 638 ml of Motrix SS07 in each shock.
I didn't measure nothing with a tape measure and it's runs perfectly.
Actually, feels way better than the stock oil from Honda.

the info is still relevant, because he has an ELEVEN year old bike, and the title says it all so its easy to find with a search.

Are you sure information doesn't go rancid with exposure to air and time?:bow1:
