Hi,

I was able to get to the temperature testing and would like to post the results.

This is to establish a numerical temperature to the bars that we see on the temperature indicator gauge.

Bar 1 on =123 deg off = 122 deg

Bar 2 on=136 deg off= 134 deg

Bar 3 on= 150deg off= 149 deg

Yes the 4th bar works- I disconnected the fans- I have never seen the 4th bar in normal operation in the 72K that I have ridden.

Bar 4 on=230 deg off= 226 deg

I did not push the test to the 5th bar

I used a thermocouple installed about 1/8? away from the Honda temperature sensor- inside the thermostat housing, behind the thermostat. I wanted to see the exact temperature that the computer was reading.

My observations------

The scale is very non-linear 1>2= 13 deg 2>3 14 deg 3>4= 80 deg

The 150 deg of the 3rd bar is lower than I expected.

Thanks Tom

I've had mine all on and flashing before in nice hot Houston summer heat sitting on blacktop : Was momentary, started to roll and cooled off fast :bow1:

Thanks for posting the info ;)

Thanks for posting, Tom. So the "normal" operating temp - 3 bars - ranges from 150 to 230. Pretty broad range. This might qualify our dash indicator as an idiot light.

More fodder to signal a thermostat failure if the engine isn't capable of getting to 150?/3 bars.
