Have not had one fail but they dont get good milage. I have run them the last (4)rear (2) fronts - rear milage 5,338 - 5,000 -6,200 wire showing 5,596 Have a set of Michelins to put on now. I am not too easy on them but this just seems to little. I had to use the last set 2rear 1 front as no one had the michelins in stock.

I have Roadsmarts on my 1100 .Noticed on my ride home tonight that cornering at speed and at 25 to 40 mph and going side to side to load the side of the tires i hear a rumble . Almost like a bad wheel bearing . Center of tire is worn flat but plenty of tread left. Seems like the tire is slightly bumpy on the sides front and rear .Something to worry about?

I got my free replacement recently. My front had around 5000 on it and no signs of the blister issue, but I didnt want to take a chance on it. Dunlop replaced the tire and paid for removal and installation.

Any updates on this issue?? I just bought an 07 with fairly new (<1000 miles) Dunlop Roadsmart IIs. I have not tried them in the wet but so far I see no issues with them. Have there been any reported "bubble" or de-lamination issues with the newer Roadsmarts?

There have been no issues reported here with the Roadsmarts manufactured '09 and later. Not one.

I would say keep an eye on it. If you feel anything the least bit odd pull over somewhere safe and feel for any unusual humps on the tire. It does appear there are little, if any, issues with the newer version but this pretty much turned me off to Dunlop as there were also issues on Valkyrie tires a few years back so they lost me as a customer.

Thanks Mellow,
Ill keep an eye on them. Makes me feel a little more secure that there aren't recent complaints. May try some Michelin PR2 or PR3s when the Dunlops are Dun.

Well I'll report a complaint. Roadsmart is at the shop right now being replaced. Had it put on 4 months ago, and have just over 5K miles on it. At 30 MPH front end was bouncing. Tried more air, less air, Rideon, and nothing helped. Took it back to the dealer and he felt bumps on the tire, so he is replacing it. Pretty sure this will be my last Dunlop.

Got the bike back yesterday. Dealer gave me $20.00 credit on a new Metzler. He said Dunlop is really hard to work with. They seem to never admit to problems. Told him about the poll on this website, and he said he has had one other guy have the same problem as mine. Says the 18" never had problems, but the 17" do. Go figure. Oh well, we will see how this one performs.

Put 1700 miles on my 07 since I purchase it used in July this year with 9300 miles . Both tires looked great when I bought it. Previous owner said there were around a thousand miles on them. Now the center and right side of the rear tire look great but the left side is nearing the wear indicator and cupping somewhat. FYI The tire manufacture date was 12-2008. Going to replace it this week. Since I'm only replacing the rear (front looks great) I may try another dunlop (new)to keep them matched then swap them both out next year. Any reason this would be a good or bad idea??

Looks like the odd wear pattern I'm seeing is probably due to 2 up riding (500LB load including paniers and top box) nearly a 1000 miles on crowned roads. Seems like the dual compound tire is way too soft on the sides and at 42 psi eats soft part while leaving the harder center compound. Bumped the pressure to 46 and like the way it rides and handles better. Maybe I can get another thousand miles if I'm lucky. I'll buy an new one and chalk this up to experience. Guess tire technology has changed a little since the 80's lol.

Here's a Roadsmart with a lot of nerve. :D The gawl-durned rubber wore off the middle, exposing cords, at 11,500 miles. Last day of my just completed 3100 mile trip. Last coffee break - no cords - but close. Got home 250 miles later and had this 18", or so, stretch of cord showing through. The front with same mileage probably has another 32nd before getting to the wear bars. Good tires.

Timed that one right . . . ;)

Just replaced front Road Smart. Still had two thirds tread left but developed a three inch long bump in center of tread. Replaced with Bridgestone.

Normally try not to hit old threads, but is anyone having the same issue with the Dunlop Roadsmart 2? I have a front and rear sitting in the cart then found this thread.Currently have Avons on the bike but they have picked up a strange cup,not on the edge like usual but closer to the center of the tire.
