Update on the tires they now have over 6000 miles on them and they are wearing good holding at 4/32 for both the front and the rear.

Well I have to report that these tires are just about done now after my ride through the mountains. I now have 6500 miles on them and they will go to 7000 and then be replaced. I must be to hard on my tires in the mountains!! :burnout

So, you're final verdict?
Not a bad tire for the money. I think they would have gone about 8000 to 9000 miles if you were doing more flat roads and maybe not as heavy on the throttle. :think1:

I would not hesitate to install another set on my ST.

Car tire now?
Can you hear the call from the DARKSIDE? If you listen real closely you'll hear.....Lompoc, Lompoc! :burnout
I still have another set of 023's and a set or PR2's to burn up first!

I did see Ken Zooker From Simi Valley has a car tire on his 05 ST 1300 so I sent him a PM asking about it, he did not have a lot of miles on it yet just said it was different.

970mike, I would sure like to know what tire Mr Zooker is running on his ST1300?
Here is what he reported to me:

Re: Car tire
I put on the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110 205/50/17. I haven't tried it on a fast twisty road like 58 yet but after 600 miles of mostly freeway it feels different but not horrible. I would use it for a long trip to avoid changing on the road.

Hope that helps.

So Mike, you really didn't gain anything other than it being a cheaper tire, correct?

Well, I scrubbed in my new Shinko's this weekend. They feel fine on the highway (no worse or better than my previous Avon Ultra's). They also seem to grip just fine in what few corners/curves we have here in flat/straight South Florida.
More to come. -JEP-

Well the time has come to replace these tires as they now have 7200 miles on them. The front looks like it would go another rear as it has a lot of tread left but I will change it out.

Here are the last pictures of these tires

Anyone that wants the Shinko front tire to try is welcome to pick it up and give it a try.

I have installed a new rear tire Bridgestone 023 and reinstalled my used front 023.

I had the Bridgestone 023 front tire with only 5000 on it, so I got another new rear 023 at a way good price. This will let me burn up that front. I think the Shinko's are a good tire for the money but I would like to get just a little more miles out of a set. You never know maybe I will get another set at a later time.

I am sure on that Ninja you will get some great wear out of the tires as it is a lot lighter then the ST. Looking forward to seeing you out at Moonshine!

970Mike, thanks for the info on the Shinko tires. I'm running a Raven on the rear, PR2 up front. I'll give the new Shinko a run when my rear wears out.
