Santa was generous!

First test of the Drift HD170 Video Camera mounted on the top of my helmet

The 170 deg wide angle lens exaggerates the speed. It will be interesting at 70mph :eek1:

Here are some pictures of how the camera can be mounted. You can see them all here.

Mounted on top of my Shoei RF-1100. This was the position for the video shot. Velcro is used to mount to the top of the helmet. I hope it holds at 70+mph !

Mounted using the optional suction cup mount from Panavise on the side fairing of my ST1300. The yellow cord is parachute cord that acts as a safety line if the suction fails!

...and here is a still image taken by the Drift from that location on the bike.

Mounted rear facing on my Top Box

Mounted on the side of my Top Box

...and here is a still image taken by the Drift from that location on the bike.

Mounted on the side of my RHS pannier

...and here is a still image taken by the Drift from that location on the bike.

I'll post videos as soon as I have taken the bike out when the roads are bit drier.

Very nice. I'd love to have one of those. I'd take your weather to go with it. We got 2 inches of rain last night and it's still coming down. Better than snow I guess.

Great video. I like the quality and the wide angle. Just what I've been looking for when riding off road on the KLR.

Thanks for the vid!
Video was shot at only 720dpi rather than the full 1080dpi so lots more quality is available.

Great video. The camera looks like a keeper for sure.

Battery life? Mounting options? Meg/Gig capacity? Where to buy Linky?

Thanks.

Recommend you check out his review like Santa did before delivering to me:
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/drift-hd-170/

The camera accepts a normal camera tripod mount but has it's own quick release mount fitted. Included are three mounts. The helmet mount I used is a curve plastic plate which can be belfries to the top or side of the helmet. The second mount is a special clip that attends to the side strap of skii or motocross goggles. The last mount is a bicycle handle bar mount.

I have a camera tripod mount on a Ram ball on the handle bars of my ST. I plan to order anoth helmet mount to attch the camera rear facing on my Top Box, and a suction mount to attach it low on the front fairing.

I'll post more videos as I experiment further.

Here are some more videos using the Drift HD170 Camera in different mounting locations on the ST1300

Front Fairing. I think this works well and would be good on some real twisties.

RHS of the HondaLine Top Box. I don't think this works. The Top Box is shock mounted so is continuously vibrating the camera.

RHS Pannier. I think this works as the view of the rider adds interest to the video.

I like the front fairing view. I have used my GoPro on the nose but I like this view better. Thanks for posting all this.
