Re: Stelvio 1200 NTX

Joe is that 8.5 gal tank an option? The spec sheet claims an 18 litre capacity with a 4.5 litre reserve. I have a soft spot for Guzzi's as well. Happy hunting! Marty

Having the bug is next to torture! I got it too. Guzzi's got a lot of super cool looking bikes in their lineup.

I just booked a charter flight to Vegas to win some cash. Anybody else wanna go?

I'm still holding out to see if the Crosstourer comes to fruition or the new Wing or the ST before I jump ship.

Re: Stelvio 1200 NTX

I'm with you Joe, I just told Dinkie about these last weekend, how I really like them, but then I started thinking about the limited dealership network. You think BMW is limited, just look at Guzzi's network.

Re: Stelvio 1200 NTX

Chuck from CT has a Stelvio, a 2010 I believe, and says it has his favorite motor of any bike he's ever had...torquey and very smooth especially for a twin. He had a Norge before and prefers this bike all around. To my eye, it's one of the better looking bikes in this segment...Mr Rugged Outdoors in an Armani suit.

I don't think about that much myself. U-haul has a great dealer network. I'd just as soon load it up and bring it home. I do have a dealer nearby right next to a Honda dealer here.

I've heard they are very reliable, I don't know what that means.

Re: Stelvio 1200 NTX

Your U-haul comment is perfect!
Before I started riding long distance alone, I used to worry about what I would do if something went wrong.
Then I remembered that I carry a credit card and cell phone, so why worry.

BTW, Guzzi makes some nice bikes!

It's a good looking bike, and interesting that it is oil/air cooled with an oil radiator. I'm wondering if the 11:1 compression ratio means premium fuel?

I really like the Guzzi's ever since seeing and sitting on em at a show. Especially the Stelvio and Norge. Know nothing about them other than that however.

It does look nice. Being the power hungry guy I am though, I'd like more power. I'm like James T. Kirk. I'm always needing more power or, at the very least, wanting it. :)

You have time, not supposed to be avail 'til the end of this year.

The major differences from the GS that I can see is the GS has better fork travel. I wouldn't be jumping the thing so that's not that big of a deal to me and it's still adequate.

I think you need the NTX Mellow, and so do I. I'm on my 2nd Guzzi Quota 1100 and am seriously considering the NTX. I really like the upright, relaxed riding position and linear power band of my Quota and Guzzi's like to be ridden at higher rpm's for a twin - around 4500 to 5000 rpm's and the engine gets very smooth. The NTX seems way more updated than the Quota and I need to test ride it ASAP.

I only put 25,000 miles on my 2 Quota's but was never stranded. Dealer network is only an issue to me if I'm going touring and I have the ST for that - not that the NTX couldn't handle it though and bikes are so much more reliable today that I don't worry as much about breakdowns.

Well, the way I see it, as long as I keep lusting after bikes that aren't available, I'm good... LOL

I almost bought a Guzzi Cali (2003? before the Vintage anyway) a few months before I found my ST1100. Both were at the same dealership used bikes. I thought about it too long because of after-market panniers that just didn't look like they 'went' with the bike, and then it was gone. The next month the ST was there and I happened to be visiting getting tires changed on my Burgman 650. I only added barely a hundred miles on those new tires before I replaced the Suzi with the ST. Really liked the Guzzi though. That would be the only V-twin engine I would care to own.
