On today's ride to Roy's BBQ, three of the bikes were STs; only mine was a Honda, though.

One of the deputies that works with Desmo Steve was wanting something with longer legs than his Yamaha 600. He wanted something different, and had been admiring Steve's Ducati ST3 for a while. After a little searching, he found a fairly low mileage ST3 in Connecticut at a good price. As a bonus, the first owner had upgraded the suspension, fitted Heli risers (real expensive for a Ducati...,) and added a few other nice pieces.

Mark's bike arrived by truck last week, and we rolled it into the garage on Friday. After some new oil, clutch and brake fluid, a throttle adjustment, and a few other tasks, Steve pronounced it ready for the road.

Mark's wife rode his old Yamaha to Hutchinson with us (new rider, but the lady is doing just fine,) and Mark's sister-in-law rode pillion with him and later with me. Steve kept an eye on everything from behind, as he prefers to ride rather than navigate.

We'll have to drag Mark along to some of the ST RTEs. He's a careful rider, eager to learn, and has his head on straight. He's grooving on having a sport tourer, and seemed to appreciate the BBQ at Roy's (that about says it all...)

Here's the group after lunch:
