I road an ST with PR4 GT tires yesterday and did not like them. Back tire is just about done and front tire has some life left in them.

Kind of hard to judge them with a worn out rear tire I would think. You're used to those new T30's! How are they holding up?

I have 13,000 kms (7900 miles) on my PR4's. The rear is shot. Front is probably 2/3 gone and the handling has gone off a bit. In all fairness, these tires were on the bike for 10,000 kms of California twisties in 90+ degree heat. Also 2000 of those kms were 2 up. That being said, I am not sure that I can vouch for their claim of 20% better mileage than the PR3's. The last PR3 rear I had, I got 12,000 kms out of it.
The price difference here in Canada is less than 10% so I will replace these with PR4's again although for the 25% savings I might just give the new T30's a try.

My last two PR2 rears were gone in 7-8k miles, I then moved to the PR3 which was disappearing so fast I had to replace it in California at 4.5k miles with a PR4GT, it definitely would not have got us home, in all cases the left sidewall was gone and the right not far behind.

I was hoping for better mileage than the PR2 from the PR4GT, think I'm going to be disappointed :(, although I loved the handling of all the PRs so far.

Almost all of my ST riding is two up, the majority with luggage and very little highway, although we're on lighter side, for sure the all up weight makes a huge difference to the tire wear rate, in our case around 1100lbs all up.

Please indicate your typical bike usage and all up weight when giving tire mileages, without that its meaningless

The California PR4 cost over $500 USD fitted !!!, I've now invested in a tire changer

It is for this reason that I believe tire life comparisons are only valid if the same person and bike are doing the comparing. Therefore I think that, in my hands, the PR4's will not give 20% more mileage.

I'm approaching 11,000 miles on my PR4 GTS and they still look good. I posted pics in the PR4GT thread.(also approaching 50,000 on the ST and it still looks good too). I weigh 185 nekid so about 200 suited up I guess, passenger about the same . I ride single and double up, freeway and backroad, pretty easy and kind of aggressively but usually speed limit +_ 5 mph ie: I just ride. The mileage on this set of tires includes a trip from Ohio to California coast and back ( single but extra luggage) in 11 days averaging 493 miles a day so a lot of high speed mostly straight up and down, so that is about 1/2 the mileage on this set of tires.

I got an email from revzilla yesterday - they have pr4 GT's in stock now (well the front anyway). I had asked them to notify me when these tires were available, but they came in much too late. I replaced my 023's with Pirelli Angel GT's. Many thanks to Igofar for your review of the Pirelli's. You deserve that case of brake fluid (twasn't me).

Wondering how the heck you are wearing out the side walls of your tires? I've worn the tread down to smooth on many bike and car tires as well and never seen any wear on the sidewall.

I think he means the left and right side tread of the tire. Probably due to lower tire pressures.
