48+ Ride Report

I recently finished doing the IBA 48+ ride: all lower 48 states + Alaska in 10 days. The ride finished in Hyder, AK in conjunction with Ron Ayres "Hyder Seek" get-together for LD riders.

Total miles for the 48+: 8,580 miles
Total time: 9d,10h, 56m
Total trip distance including getting to the start and coming back from Alaska: 12,211.

My '04 ST didn't burp, cough, hiccup or belch - absolutely flawless the entire trip.

Rear BT020 is flat spotted (doh!) and pretty much toast; front has some tread left on it, but I'm going to change out both of them anyway. Did the entire trip without changing oil (Rotella T Synthetic) and will send the used oil in for analysis to see how well it fared.

I wrote a combination ride report and documentation for the IBA. Ignore the red and blue letters in parentheses - those refer to receipts for the IBA.

Here's Part 1.

Re: 48+ Ride Report

That's awesome -- thanks for sharing. I doubt I could do a ride like that, but it sure is nice to read about

Congrats Mike!
I'd love to do that someday!
but for now I'll settle for just making it to the west coast someday!

Wow, way cool. What kind of seat to you have. They should "sponsor" you with giving you a new one just for the great advertisement.

Exemplar = a person or thing regarded as worthy of imitation; model; pattern; archetype.

We know the person; we know the thing.

And kudos to both!
