Thumbs down Goodbye HRCA

I know we have discussed this issue recently, but It turns out Honda Riders Club of American is abandoning roadside towing completely. It looked like they were not going to offer it with the complimentary first year's membership and keep it for paid subscriptions. Not so. HRCA send a letter (I recieved it today) stating to get roadside towing I will have to purchase HondaCare from the dealer.
I have Progressive insurance, but I have not looked up if I have towing. Does it come standard with the policy?
More importantly, has Honda gone mad?

Why does that not surprise me? I know the last time this subject was discussed at length there were some who called HRCA for the explanation only to be told it was all a misunderstanding and they would shortly clarify the change. I kept a close watch on the HRCA site and there was no clarification posted. I started to get suspicious and it sounds like their original wording is exactly what they intended (which is to roll towing into Hondacare.)

Here is the thread where we discussed at length a few months back.

http://www.st-owners.com/forums/show...highlight=hrca

The ironic thing about all this is they maintain they are doing this to better focus the club mission. But I'd venture to guess that a large percentage of the membership is there because of the towing. They might find their membership count severely diminished over the next 12 months.

Here's the HRCA letter received today.

Any other reliable 24/7 USA/Canada motorcycle towing services out there?

Thanks.

Thanks for posting that Elliot. And I love your plate!

I'll look for ya, if I see another ST. I am "LOL MPG" if you happen to see a silver ST along the 210.

Re: Goodbye HRCA

AMA offers their "Mo-Tow" program. You might want to look into it when you renew your membership. (You ought to be a member, you know.) Looks like I'll be dropping my HRCA membership; the towing and roadside assistance was the only reason I bought it. Too bad the marketing guys aren't as bright as the motorcycle designers...

Re: Goodbye HRCA

Well, should you "think" you saw me on the 210 may I suggeST you look juST a little more closely . . . . How do you plan reading my plate when all that you see will be a blur? Traffic permitting, 'round these parts "210" is required juST to keep up with traffic.

I will keep an eye out for your Silver ST and "LOL MPG" (lol)

Thanks.

Re: Goodbye HRCA

Rob, thanks for the AMA information (yes, I am a Member) concerning "MO-TOW". I might not be intereSTed in this as there is a 35 mile reSTriction limit for the towing feature.

Anything else out there that would take us to the neareST HONDA Dealer????

Thanks.

Re: Goodbye HRCA

Now let's not get our panties in a wad folks (not yet anyway)

Elliot, all, the highlighted part of the paragraph speaks of aligning towing with the Hondacare program. The very next sentence reads: "Accordingly, the transfer of this feature will allow the HRCA to substantially reduce the price of membership"

Or am I reading this all wrong?
