This is a VFR-1000, same general time frame as the VFR 750s shown above. Leaning against a shed just rusting away.

I'm (slowly) doing an album just of the bikes I've come across this year, some interesting ones, including the marine battery/'lectric motor/Honda Shadow unit I saw in Plymouth, MI back in May. Links to follow.
Honda took the VFX to all different models. I don't think that 1000 was ever a popular one and it's no collector version at this point.

These were great bikes.....a friend of mine had one and we swapped on a ride up RT1 to Monterey. Two hours of bliss listening to those Yosh slip-ons and gear driven cams- comfy and powerful.

Re: VFR1200T

Mirrors look wrong, placed on the same plane as the bars?? Elbows are bad enough, but having your hands that close to the mirrors ...

Anyway, that looks a lot more like an ST than a VFR, so I'm as an "ST" flavored new V-4 it's looking good. Lighter weight is to be hoped for, not really going to get much more torque out of a smaller engine, but may get more horsepower and a 6th gear for highway overdrive. Pretty sure they'll stretch the pipe for reasons already alluded to, hope they go to true dual headlights. I have a deep dislike for mono-eyed faired bikes. Give me cateyes!

The artist's rendering of the bike has a seat that will drive even more business to the likes of Russel, Sargent, and Corbin. I don't think even Spencer could save that monstrosity.

Now if we can get a nice Aegean Blue...

I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park.

Hope is not a plan.

Re: VFR1200T

According the MCN, for what little it's worth, the VFR-T (for Touring, I suppose) is going to replace the Pan Euro. I wouldn't put much stock in those computer generated images. They're based on some drawings that MCN claims are Honda patent drawings, but they didn't have any of the typical call-outs that patent drawings generally have. The windshield on the drawings looked straight from an ST, and the mirrors straight from a 'wing.

Assuming the VFR-T is real at all, I'd be very surprised if it looked exactly like this.

Oh, also: the spot in the Honda model lineup that was filled with the original VFR is now held by the CBR / RR bikes. The original VFR was Honda's hottest sport bike at the time, not a sporty standard, even if it seems that way now.

Re: VFR1200T

I still have my 84 VF-500F, love that lil bike!! And I've come sooooo close to getting an 86 VFR; that bike still gets me cranked!

Here it is after lots of custom work; note the one-off (ok, two-off) exhaust cans! I was "saving lives"...

Ready for a little ride:

Re: VFR1200T

a french company call Voxen produced this touring bike which I think looks better but being french it most likely performs better in neutral than at any other time.

I believe I just cried a little. That's a shame.

If there were a single bike from the past I could own, the VF1000R would be it. If I could have two, I would add the 86 VFR750...

Re: VFR1200T

I just came across my 86 VFR brochure I picked up when I took delivery of my 86 VFR700FII, I still miss that bike.

+1....I'm generally not one for bike envy but I always had a soft spot for that VF1000r - especially the ones with the Rothman's paint scheme
