Re: Search for Donald Masters-MT area (Facts Only)

As we have discussed, Donald's son, Noah, his step-son, Justin Spicer, and a friend of theirs are headed for Montana tomorrow. Since they're coming from Denver, they likely will hit W. Yellowstone and work west from there. If they need to base somewhere, I'd suggest Darby, since that is the last place he was seen, and Darby Larry Rose and Ravalli Sheriff's Deputy Bernie Allestad are both aware of the situation and have been helpful with the search.

Traveler's Rest Cabins
and RV Park has cabins and is right in Darby.

I've made it in safe and sound. Ed and I will work up 93 looking for any signs from Chalis to Salmon as well as any "hmmm, wonder where that goes" roads that we see.

Re: Search for Donald Masters-MT area (Facts Only)

Hi
I live in Missoula and want to help. I'm leaving Saturday morning and I will ride south on hwy 93 thru Sula, over Lost Trail, continuing to Wisdom, where I will head east on the 43 to Wise River, then south down the canyon, working my way to Dillon.
My cell is 406-531-5890, and you can call or text me anytime.
If you prefer me to ride another route, please post here or call me. I'm at your disposal.

I read through all the post on the ST forum...

Don't understand why there is an assumption he traveled through Dillion. I would have stayed on Hwy 43, not gone South on MT278, East to Wisdom and I-15... and east to Twin Bridges.

When I routed on Goggle.. Lolo, Darby, Wisdom, Divide (I-15), Twin Bridges, Ennis (287 to W. Yellowstone)... It routed me over the Melrose-Twin Bridges County Hwy. Nobody has mentioned this route.

I-15 to Twin Bridges is only 20 miles, not sure if the road is paved, but the name (and terrain) leads me to believe it's a likely route if he happened onto this "shortcut." This is the shortest (non interstate) route from Lolo to Hwy 287 into W Yellowstone.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...09&ie=UTF8&z=9

Divide to Twin Bridges via Dillion is 38 miles longer - Lolo to Twin Bridges via MT278, 11 miles longer. Lolo to I-15 is 160 miles (but with few facilities in Divide), he'd easily determine making Twin Bridges (190 miles), or Ennis, on his available gas. Darby (@ 4:35PM) to Twin Bridges ETA is 9:00, Ennis by 9:45 @ 236 miles from Lolo.

If he headed south through Dillon (ETA 7PM @ 177 miles, longer route to Yellowstone), he'd definately fuel there with a CC (lots of options) before pushing on into the night - so putting him south of (or past) Dillon is questionable.

My prayers are with you guys and the Family,
John Conway
