I have 116,000 miles on my 2006.

A weeping valve cover gasket prompted a recent visit to my mechanic. Since they were going to be in there, I had them check the valves, as they'd never been checked, and, according to the manual, I was nearly 86,000 miles overdue.

The result: One intake valve 0.001" out of spec and one exhaust valve 0.001" out of spec. All others were dead on spec. He buttoned it back up and said, "I guess we'll take another look at 200,000 miles."

The cashier's only comment: "Well, it IS a Honda."

.....onto the next 100,000.

Some (very few) have found clearances tight early on. Once they're seated imop they're pretty stable. Less open time = more heat transfer and happy cooler valves.

.02 Honda is pretty good at making things nominal not to allowances of spec.

When I first got my ST 1300 the Honda mechanic told me that he has never seen any 1300 with the valves out of spec. He said to just ride it and take a look every once in a while. I love these motors.

I'm hoping that's so. I checked my valves at 16,000 miles and found two valves at their limits. I'm getting close to the 32,000 mile inspection, so here's hoping their still in spec.
