You can twist an old expression and say "stay off the "breaks" when you're in the gravel."
To avoid the "breaks" in gravel you must stay off the "brakes";)

Dropped my ST1300 the first time I took it out of town. Forgot I had all my camping gear on the back and didn't lift my leg high enough when I went to dismount at a gas station. The little push to the left and delay getting said foot to the ground - boom, down she went. I felt the concrete apron in front of the gas pump shake! The best part was no one was around to point and laugh, the bad part is that the slick, almost polished concrete finish just resulted in the tires sliding away sideways when I attempted the back to the bike, butt against the saddle lift technique. Finally had to wedge it against the raised island that the pumps sit on and a good bit of extra oomph! to get it stood up. No damage at all other than a scuffed tip wing cover.
