I found a ‘98 ST1100 with 75k miles in excellent mechanical and good cosmetic condition the owner is willing to part with for $2200. The miles seem a bit high for what he’s asking. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Thanks! The timing belt was changed at 70k miles, as I understand it. It doesn’t have ABS, so I’ll offer him $2k and see what happens. (He actually listed it at $2600, which is too high, in my opinion, but said it was very negotiable.)

I would say the best price is the one that you’re both happy with - low ball a seller and they may tell you they won’t sell you the bike (depends on how bad you want it and how motivated they are to sell it). $2K isn’t bad for a 98- did it have the hoses done as well as the timing belt? If so, it would likely require nothing for quite a while except tires and oil changes.

If your willing and able to do your own work It's probably a good deal for 2k. Repairs just for maint can get expensive but nothing a diy selfer can't handle. Comon problem year and miles are fuel pump, coolant hoses.

Mines is a 2000 with 86K miles and runs so good I ain't afraid to ride it anywhere. I agree buy it between 1,500 and 2K and it will be a great deal.
