Avon Tire AV45/46 for ST1100

I have ordered a set of avons for my 01 standard. I have a issue with the rear tire being a 160/70 VR17. The sales clerk did not know and said he physically looked at the tire and it did not have the V designation.

The does the tire actually have the V designation on it or does it say reinforced only?

Who cares? That's just a speed rating anyway. Looking on the fitment guide for avon, those tires are a V rating and V is 150mph How much time do you spend going over 150 mph? What you should be more concerned with is the load rating, which is 79 or 437kg = 1048lbs. That's just awesome.

You'll be happy with those tires, just put em on. I run em, I love em.

The 160/70 Avon is the tyre specifically for the ST11, and it also goes on the LT12 BMW, so no issues with weight and speed. It is specially reinforced. I have run the Avons over the last year, have 10,000kms on the rear 2/3rds worn, just replaced the front. Riders in the US seem to get double this, must be the road construction.
