I tell people that are thinking about knee replacements - "The first time you go down a set of steps and don't think about, you'll be glad you did it!"
How long does it take to get to that point after surgery?

I did well with both hips, but I know knees take longer.

More importantly, how long before you can ride again?

My experience with riding after a knee replacements (about 2 months) -

Uncle Phil - First Ride Of 2011 - My right one

Uncle Phil - Day Ride 10/21/2011 - My left one

Steps usually take about a year before you don't think about it - some folks are quicker, some are longer - depending on how long they went and how bad the damage and muscle atrophy got.

I believe the whole knee replacement thing has vastly improved over the last 13 years since mine were done.
FWIU, it is a lot less 'destructive' and they don't take as much stuff out as they did when mine were done.
