Bridgestone Exedra G547/G548 availabillity? (ST1100)

Weird question, but over here I grow the impression that tire companies are now forcing people to products that will not last longer then 6500km/4000miles...

Neither Bridgestone Germany nor Austria does list any tires other then T31, T30 EVO or BT-23 (not even BT45 or it's successor BT46) for the standard/non-ABS ST...
When Inquiried the official statement is "...production of Exedra G547/548 discontinued..." huh?!

If you dig further, like Bridgestone Asia, you'll find that the Exedra is still actively offered, hence obviously still getting produced...
A number of independend local online deales also still have them in their listings (just placed an order to restock my shed)...

Just like with starter batteries (that suddenly won't last longer then 2 years), or printers that "die" once the ink or toner catridges are exhausted, "obsolescence" seems to be the new methode to increase financial turnover...

The last time I looked Bridgestone were recommending the 023 or 31 non GT for the 11, I think.
With regards the miles the 031 will cover 7000 miles plus with spirited two up touring miles, which is a lot better than the 4500 the 023 delivers and they're about the same price, give or take not a lot.
The beauty of the 31 is that it stays in good shape.
The mileage with the 023 is pretty poor and means that on some European jaunts we barely get back on a new tyre. Not so the 31.

Edit, I think Bridgestone are about to produce an updated 46, but I don't know in which sizes, I'll see if I can find it.

I've pretty much went with the BT020 bias (that is for the BMW 'gunboat' KLT1200(?)) for my rears. It handles well and I can get a little over 10,000 miles out of them. But they are a major deal to mount and dismount because of the stiff sidewall. Then I run the BT0XX flavor of the month radial on the front. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised by the front mileage and sometimes I'm not.
I'm trying the Michelin Commander bias on the rear and the PR4 radial on the front on one of my ladies just to see if I get any better mileage.
With four ST1100s, I can try different stuff just to see how it works.

Martin, you can always try the Harley Davidson dealer for a rear Exedra in the correct size. Fits their Sportster model. The only problem is the large Harley Davidson lettering molded onto the sidewall. Ask me how I know this...

I ride 20-25k miles per year. If I got only 4,000 miles/tire, I might quit riding. I run a Michelin Commander II on the rear and a rear Bridgestone BT45 on the front of my ST1100. I've been through quite a few sets of these and I always get 20k+ miles per tire in combined commuting/touring/sporty riding. I use Counteract beads for balance and they wear nice and even. They (tires) seem to be easy to find, at least here in the USA.

My independent shop always finds my tires for me. These are Oem Bridgestones. Last time it did take him 5 day to get them in. Something about there was only 5 or 6 in warehouses in the US. But you have to be firm and tell them no that's ok keep looking for the Bridgestones. May take a little work but once you mount these babies your good for 15K miles.

I just got a G547 front from Dennis Kirk (on sale for less than $95 USD), and the sidewall indicates it was made in mid-September of 2019. Seems like it is still being made, at least to the end of last year...

Sometimes you can find the OEM Bridgestones on parts fiche at the on-line parts discounters like Service Honda, Partzilla, etc.. Then just order them via the official Honda part number.

But I've no clue which tires to install once those sources also dry up...

The BT45 looks like it has a similar tread design up front.
I've run the BT020 on the rear, but as mentioned, pretty tough taking off and putting on.
I REALLY like the Michelin Commander II on the back. TONS of miles, great grip and relatively easy to install!

if you search by dimension, no Bridgestone Exedra will show up...
But if I enter [G547] and [G548] into the search field... TADAAHHH
(they actually list them under "custom", means cruisers... whiskey tango foxtrot ... )

I also have no problem to find them, in Canada.
Bridgestone Exedra : G547 and 548 for front and rear tire for my 2000, non-abs, ST1100.

I order them from Pete's Superbike, who ships them all across canada.
His prices are very competitive. Lower than anywhere else.
He is in the Montreal area, so, for me, it's a local pickup : no shipping fee's involved.

The Owner is also a Veteran. One more reason to make business with him.
