I just carry, made up jumper wires in the event that I have to deal with the red wire burn out on the road. A bypass of the side stand switch and a home made clutch diode pack. I’ve used the above said items on previously owned ST1100’s (1990, 97 models). As for my current model 2002ABSII model, those items are in my glove box to be on hand if and when I need them

I don't know, I only know that Honda refers to it as such.
I doubt that it is the same capacitor type as the old pre-electronic ignition style. The fully electronic version are capable of much higher voltage spark as well as more precise spark control along with better ignition timing control.

Pretty sure that is vendor catering to their market (Partzilla?). Since it’s so commonly misused in U.S. Certainly not called CDI outside of U.S.


And we already know what Honda actually calls it in their manual.
