I KNOW this thread is somewhere but I can't find it.

I'm looking to mount a Garmin 205W somewhere on the dash...any suggestions or photos?

A lot of folks put the GPS up on the dash for center visibility. I on the other hand, prefer to have it mounted on the clutch reservoir where it is easier (IMHO) for me to reach it and make changes (destination or radio station). Some have also put right between the handlebars (if you have risers that have a Ram Mount hole (mine does). The problem I have with this location is that you have to look DOWN further, and if you have a (large) tank bag, then the GPS is difficult to reach and/or see.

This is how I have mine mounted (among other things);

The mount system;

If you like the GPS between the handlebars and don't want to buy risers;

Or if you really want a dash mount, this is a very secure one (this is what I have).

I am also thinking about how to mount my Garmin 255W GPS. I will be ordering the RAM Aqua Box and Gilsson Direct Wire Cable from Amazon.com (best prices found so far). The medium-wide RAM Aqua Box is the right size for both our Garmins. The cable has a transformer to allow direct connection to bike power with isolation for safety to the GPS electronics. There is a less $$$ cable that does the same but that one has a straight mini-USB connector and there would not be room in the Aqua Box for it. The Gilsson has an angled connector just like the Garmin car connector. I already have a fused Aux power panel in my left glove box to connect this to that is only powered when the bike is on.

Gilsson Direct Wire Cable (warning on this product- I ordered and received it and THEN found out this direct cable module does not support the Garmin wide screen Nuvi 255W. It will, however, support the regular screen sized Nuvi 255.)

Then I plan to make my own bracket to mount on the dash similar to how Hound did it. Actually, Hound has a very close variation on what I was thinking of doing on my ST1100. Will be watching this thread for any other ideas that would be worth considering before I finish mine.

What model ST do you have?

Ram has a U-bolt mount. It will easily clamp around the handlebar. That, combined with a 3" Ram extension, will place the GPS neatly between the bars and you and adjust its position several different directions. Saves having to drill and tap the risers (if not already done). I have used this for a couple of years and works great. Another advantage is that it easily goes from bike to bike if need be.
