Not on an 1100, I used the carbon trace type pads off Amazon and put heat front/rear on my 1300. Front is controlled by a wired in the dash unit, rear is controlled by rf remote the gf can carry in her coat pocket.

Get some heated gear (gloves, jacket liner, pants, etc)... some of the best $$ I've spent on my ST1100. Plus, they're easy to move from bike to bike.

I didn't 'install a kit', but when I ordered a Corbin seat, I asked them to provide it with seat heating.

It's a nice luxury to have in cold weather, but I recommend that if you are looking to 'add warmth' to your rides in cooler weather, you prioritize things in the following order:

1) Heated Grips - these make a huge difference.
2) A heated vest to wear under your riding gear.
3) Heated chaps to wear under your riding gear.
4) Heated gloves.
5) Finally, a heated seat.

I don't think a heated seat would do much for you in the absence of the first 4 items. But it is a nice luxury to have once the rest of you is warmed up with the first 4 items.

The kit I ordered for $18 (+8 s/h) is no longer there... now it's $20.19 with free s/h from HK or $19.94 + $3.5 sh/h from California.

Having the heated seat is nice when the weather is marginal. Don't have to think of bringing along anything, like grip heaters, always there ready to add a bit of warmth when needed.

On the really cold days, it's nice to turn it on while the engine is warming up. Keeps the leather from being quite so cold on the bum.
