Today I took my 2002 ST1100 to Uncle Phil's house just outside Nashville (25 degrees... burrrrr) to take him up on his gracious offer to sync my carbs. I had noticed a popping sound (backfire) soon after a start while warming up (between 2-3000 rpms).

I watched his magical skills at setting up for the procedure (lazily sitting in a rocking chair watching due to a broken femer some months ago). Then as he turned each carb adjusting screw I'd watch the gauge on the dial till each calibrated with the others and, just like that, it was done.

What can I say. As I rode home the difference was amazing! It ran so much smoooooother and put the SPORT back in Sport Touring.

Take home message: if you haven't had your carbs synched... don't delay. It may make your bike just as happy as it did mine.

A huge thank you to Phil for willingly giving his time and expertise.
