Is the rear shock on our pans the same 2003 on wards is there any reason why this 2009 shock will not fit my 2004 model

Hi Bob,
thanks for that checked the link for a 2004 rear shock part no 52400-MCS-305 and the rear shock part no for a 2009 is 52400-MCS-31A but the pictures of the 2 shocks look the same.

Rob,
There are a number of good links describing part numbers, Blrfl's stwiki.notonthe.net being one that describes the part numbers and also gives links to other sites that describe Honda part numbers. (See the section titled "Modification Process Design").

I'd not hesitate to interchange a 52400-MCS-305 and a 52400-MCS-31A rear shock. :)

Hi John,
thanks for that yes the part numbers are slightly different but the shocks must be the same,
the only reason i say this as the one i have been offered is advertised as a 2009 but on ebay they list second hand rear shocks saying suitable for 2003-2009
so i was guessinf the rear shocks haven,t changed over the 5 years.

According to the parts fiche, 52400-MCS-G02 was used 2003-2009 and has been superseded by 52400-MCS-305, which was used starting in 2010.

Unless they changed something for 2012 (doubt it) and there were no 2011s, a shock from any year is fine.
