OEM Honda Backrest

I just picked up this OEM Honda Backrest. I am told there is a channel that it fits into but I can’t seem to find it. It came off an 06 1300 and mine is an 06 1300. Don’t want to look like an idiot.....but am starting to feel like one. Any pointers what I,m looking for and how it attaches?

That's not a oem backrest. Honda never made one.
That backrest requires a plate that is sold with it to replace the stock one.

As posted, you need a plate.
I don't know if it's sold separately.
It's a nice addition to the ST.

I called. They’re no longer making it so the only way I will be able to use it if I can find one used somewhere.
