...I can't find a 12-inch long #1 Phillips head screwdriver. While it is easy to find long versions of the #2 size, a very long shank #1 size is proving to be elusive.

The manual says that is what I need to synch the carbs on my ST1100.

I was wondering if anyone knows where to obtain this tool.

I've checked Sears (plus their catalogue), and a bunch of other places online - to no avail.

Anyone have one? Where did you get it?

...or, will the 10-inch that I could find be long enough?

Thanks!

A 10 inch should be fine, I know I don't have a #1 phillips that long, I had no problem synching my 1100.

In the fwiw category, I found that when using a phillips screwdriver to sync the carbs on my (93) 1100, the downward pressure I had to use to keep the tip of the screwdriver engaged in the screw affected the rpm. When I used a long straight-slot, its tip rested in the slot and no downward pressure was needed to keep it engaged. YMMV, etc.

But to offer an answer to your question, have you tried Harbor Freight?

Thanks. That is great news.

I did check most of the other places mentioned without any luck.

The phillips/flat head experience was interesting.

I have the 10-inch, so I guess I'm good to go.

Much obliged, All.
