Just thought id share what works well with my 2005 ST1300 to keep its battery charged in the garage or on the road, should I or a buddy need a jump. It doesnt take long for the battery to run down to 9-10v where she wont kick over.

The Power All Deluxe is small but powerful. Jumped my bike a couple of times already with it. The Shumacher slow charger does a good job of getting me going in under an hour if it wont start, or is a good trickle charger at 1amp. Does 6 or 12v.

The slow charger plugs right into the bikes chargeing cable, and I use a plug and clamps with the portable jumper.

I have been thinking about getting one for our bikes. We have battery tenders for home but on a trip should a battery get low should be able to plug into the tender plug and start up. The ones I have I have looked at so far don't have that plug as an option I don't want to cut the clamps off to wire on the plug so I haven't bought one yet.

That's a lot of amperage to pump thru a tender lead. I have the Antigravity jump pack. They offer an accessory quick plug with much heavier gauge wire that you can leave on the bike. I've seen many custom arrangements that people have done for theirs. Fortunately I have never needed it on any of my bikes, but it's worked great for friends' cars and trucks!!

Valid concern, charging amps is...

Bike’s charging wires havent gotten hot yet for jumps or tending. I doubt it draws 400 Amps when jumping the bike. It supposedly can jump a car/suv, but I havent tried it. Most of my vehicles have batteries with 650+ CCA ratings.

For me, id not want to bypass the existing charging cable with a bigger gauge. If the “tender” cable gets overly warm, then id also be concerned about the battery too. The charging and jumping experiences Ive had thus far with these two products have not been detrimental to the existing cable or battery.

All my former and presently the ST1300 will sit for months if needed and still crank over fine. Even on the several year old battery. Over "winter" season I will charge it a couple random times and once before riding season starts. Same with several snowmobiles.
I see no reason to keep everything on battery tenders although a booster would be a good addition to the emergency kit. Bought one but wasn't what I really wanted and returned it. Haven't remembered or looked into finding the "right" one yet.
