In the UK, The 2009 ST1300A9 model was produced until the end of 2013. Mine came off the production line at the end of September 2013.
After that there was an ST1300AE model. I have yet to come across any difference except that it the 2104 model came in two different colours - yet another (deeper) red, and another dark blue.
I know that it has a radiator variation, but that came out before my model was built. Some of the UK fiches do not list the ST1300AE

The code for the model is on the white label under the pillion seat. The same single digit code is shown as the 10th character of the VIN stamped vertically on the right hand side of the headstock. 2=2002, 9=2009. Then they start using letters so C is 2012 and E is 2014. In the Uk there is nothing to indicate when it was built. Not on mine anyway. I contacted Honda and they sent me a copy of the production sheet.

In the USA the model year is assigned with production month and year shown on the DOT placard on the frame. The ST1300's placard is on the headstock. No manufacturer can "resticker" or "relabel" the model year.
