ST1100 OEM Wind Deflector Mounting Instructions?

The screws that came with my Hondaline fairing wind deflectors are black 5mm cross-tips, and they are much longer than necessary.

I had my deflectors on and off so many times that I discarded the push-pins that secured the bottoms to the lower fairing and installed 5mm nut clips there. FWIW
