I hate electrics with a passion! :(

Yeah I purchased the bike used, but that was 8 years and 70k miles ago... it's been bulletproof up until the last few months.. already left me stranded once this year 400 miles from home and it just seems like it one thing after another at the moment...

So on the way home, nothing working… over a few bumps and the fuel light blinks on…

all of a sudden the temp gauge kicks into life and a quick check showed the neutral light working too.

I tried the horn, and that didn’t work then everything switched back off…

Along with checking grounds (Earthing) I would look at the Red wire on the Starter relay if that hasn't been addressed previously. That can cause charging problems which can cause power problems etc. An ST1100 can start acting very strange with power problems.
