For those contemplating the ST1100 40amp alternator upgrade, the ST-Riders/LiSTer currently using my upgrade tool kit reported this part, the ~$13 alternator wiring harness:

32130-MAJ-G40 SUB-HARNESS, ALTNTR

is not in Honda stocks anywhere in the USofA. It's on backorder to Japan
with no ETA given. I confirmed this with my good local dealer's trusted parts man. Here's the part in question (left side in this pic):

The current kit borrowee is fabricating a substitute so he can finish the job and pass the kit along to the next awaiting upgrader. So, this not a
stop-work issue, but it sure is a PITA. And there's sure not a lot of room to work when R&R'g the substitute/OEM parts later with the swingarm on.

Until this part is again available, a salvage harness is probably the best
solution. But they may be hard to find as I suspect that any that are available are snapped up at the same time as the salvage 40amp alternator that it's attached to, along with the other upgrade parts. OTOH, if you can find a salvage 40amper, why buy new stock...? :)^)

Last year [or was it the year before] the big 90mm O-ring was a backordered problem. This is why I almost never send out any of my loaner tool kits before the loanee reports parts in hand and a date set to do the procedure.

BTW, my tools are available to all STOCers... ST-Riders, ST-Owners. MY-MCers, independents... First priority for the upgrade tool kit to any STrider with a dead commuter ST11, of course.
