New 2009 ST1300A- less than 500 miles on it. When I start the engine cold and let it run to warm up I get a small puddle of coolant right under the front center of the lower fairing directly behind the front wheel. As soon as it warms up it stops and it will never leak again for the rest of the day. Every time I restart it cold it happens. I haven't been able to go searching yet. Anybody know where this leak might be coming from?

Thanks

Coolant bypass that flows when the engine is cold is leaking at a hose clamp. The bypass is closed by the thermostat as the engine warms. The fix is probably just tightening the offending clamp and while you are at it all the other clamps in the system. It will require removing the plastic fairing and the radiator and this forum can help you do that. Some of us have taken the opportunity to change all the clamps to a different design and some of us just tighten the OEM clamps during major services done at 16,000 to 32,000 mile intervals. I tightened mine at 22,000 and again at 86,000 miles. Now at 108,000 miles on original hoses and clamps leak free.

I see your mileage now .......... this is a dealer warranty item if I were you.

You are in luck. Had you had an early 2007 model, it could have also been a water pump seal leaking out the weep hole. But your 2009 now routes that out a small hose. So most likely you have simply a loose hose clamp. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure you have to remove some plastic to get at them.
