I know my ST 1300 standard rear tire is supposed to be a 170/60/17 but I can only find a 180/55/17 in the Mich PR4. Anyone know if it will fit?

A number of owners use the 180/55ZR17 tire on their ST1300s. Some even prefer it.

Yes, it'll fit. It's a bit wider, yet shorter. Your handling will be less crisp unless you raise the rear suspension.

Difference in radius is 3mm between 170/60 vs. 180/55 tyre. That's less than difference between new vs. worn tyre of either size. So don't worry about it.

I've got Kenda KM1 in 180/55 on rear of mine now. Got it based on great experience with it on my VFR. Having learned of this tyre from VFR group.

in theory.

Years ago I kept a running record of different tire sizes I ran on my ST1100, where I measured the width in mm and the circumference in mm. There was quite a variation among tires of the same nominal size, so they're not all the same regardless of indicated size.

True, sizing is nominal and not absolute. The original Michelin Pilot Roads in ST sizes featured a very rounded cross section and the ST1300 OEM Bridgestones had shorter sidewalls and in cross section were more elliptical making the former rather vague tipping in a corner while the Bridgestones were crisper at tip-in.
