Thought you'd enjoy seeing how to REALLY mess up the rear calliper...the OP had this question: "Ok, debate time…. ***** has happened to my rear caliper??" I suggested rodent damage.

Aluminum melts at 1221 degrees.
There would be heat dissipation by the time it reached the brake line but still amazing that the line held together long enough to allow that kind of damage.

Definitely rodent damage.
See, it’s like this, the rodent’s toilet room was on top of the caliper. Urine trickled down and spread up on the brake cylinder causing it to seize…

I was going to suggest someone installed a styrofoam display caliper by mistake, but overtemp is likely.

Hard to believe anyone could be riding a bike with brakes in that condition.

Maybe it's the "ride hard and check the bike over every 10 years" crowd.

Can you imagine what the rest of the bike looks like.

... the cause might be as banal as a sloppy seating position, resting his right foot on the pedal ...
Saw the FB posting this morning, Shamane Headshaykn' seriously striking, but kept out of the FB debate ... just useless...
