When the tire gets thin, it does squirm and the handle bars will shake.
Which should be a warning that you have gone too far.
Your tire will go from slick to eek in a week. Do not do this!

I thought about it first, but in that case rear tire should have the same wear unevenness as front? But it is absolutely symmetrical, even chicken strips same on both sides...
You don't steer with the rear tire.

About one third of my commute is on country roads and city streets that have significant road crown.
At end of life both the front and rear have more left side wear.
You steer by leaning, so both front and rear edges should wear.

Just wanted to add, that changing tires out of nominal size doesn't affect ABS (first version at least) at all. Today I had to install what I found on local market (mine tires where totally trashed):
130/70/18 on the front - feels normal, bike became more steady especially in turns, on old stock size tire I had to catch it from diving into turn.
when I installed 150/70/17 on rear - rear end of bake started to feel light and fidgety in turns. Didn't like it, going to replace it to 170/70/17 next year and leave front as it is. I found 170/70/17 more comfortable and interesting in steering in combination with 130/70/18 on the front.

Albert, try lowering the rear suspension to restore some stability.
Thanks Larry)

can't say it is unstable now, just feels too light after switching from 170/70 ) I think I just need to get used to new steering style.. Going to make longer test ride tomorrow.
