I picked up a used Uni-Go hitch on Fleabay and either I am looking at the wrong mounting points or it is not for an 1100.
It has the 3/4" hole on the rear strap that on a DenRay hitch, mounts to the obvious rear mounting point for the panier rail. But when I hold this hitch up to that rear reference point the front vertical strap is not in line to mount up to anything.
I am either opening myself up to a "Doh"! / slap myself in the forehead moment, or the hitch may be for something else and only looks like it should work on an 1100.
Any and all help/ridicule is welcome.:

keeping in mind that the Den-Ray hitch hanger mount point is the smaller bolt boss for the saddlebag slider frame... what about the rear larger bolt location for the rear tab?
How would it line up from there?

From what I gathered looking closely at a uni-go hitch the tabs should mount to the 2 large bolts and not at the one smaller bolt and a large one. But that's just my UN-educated deduction from eyeballing the thing. Oh, and just a thought too.

Are we talking about the rear one that is about 3/4" dia? i am expecting the hanger to go there and to a bolt roughly 8.5 inches forward but it just doesn't look right.

I agree... pictures please.

The saddlebag slider frame is held on by 2-8mm bolts and one 6mm bolt. The boss for the 6mm bolt (don't know the diameter since I never measured it) is aft and below both 8mm bolts and is where DenRay tries but fails to mount to unless you make your own hanger to fit over that boss. The two 8mm bolt points are what I am talking about. But a photo would be most helpful. Your measurements given here will help put it in perspective.

Looking at the online manual I see I was wrong on the bolt count. There are two 6mm bolts and also two 8 mm bolts (forgot about the extra bolt at the lower front of the frames). Looking at the photos I would guess that aft hanger bracket should fit the boss for the 6mm bolt mounting, and the forward hanger should fit at the forward 8mm bolt. I assume that what you were looking at.

Yep, thanks Bob.
I got an excellent suggestion from Dan that had slipped past my feeble mind. I will finish stripping down the wrecked 97 and find the hiding front attachment points. They are there, I just cant see them for the plastic I think.
Thanks Dan.

Post pics, Mac, before reinstalling the plastic.

The hitch we've built for my lipSTick isn't stiff enuff laterally. Added a pair of large screw clamps around the mufflers and lower hitch rails to help stiffen it up but it needs something else.

Paging Kreis... :D

I found the same thing with the Den-Ray hitch George. In a no wind scenario it was good but with wind it wanted to torque back and forth. I really think the Uni-Go style will do the trick.
I will post pics when I get it on. Two weeks till another visit to Casey.

DohOnce I took the tail plastic off I saw that I was looking at the wrong boss to hang from in the rear. Had I looked at Larry's pics closer I would have seen my error. Anyway the hitch is on and when I have time I will do the mod to the down tubes to make it modular for easier wheel removal. I think I will just cut the tubes and make solid inserts that will go inside each tube. Then I can just take out a few bolts and drop the cross bar.

I still need to work on the hitch mount. The bags are a bear to get on. I put a washer in to move the hanger bar out, on the aft bolt, but it still is tough.
Any suggestions?

I think I am going to have to turn one up. If I add another washer it will put the 3/4" boss outside the female dia. and the whole thing will be hanging on the bolt only. I don't want to give up the location and support it provides. Once again I was hoping I missing something that you guys also encountered but solved.

Click on my PDF's in this post (not just the pics) https://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?98715-Pics-of-Unigo-trailer-Hitch-for-1100&p=1227238&viewfull=1#post1227238 They are numbers in order, but did not load up in order so click on them 1 thru 6. I see a number of notes stating that you must put a 1/4" spacer in there to move the bag rais out away from the hitch for easier bag install.
