I heard tale of a traveling shim kit that showed up at riders doors to help them with valve adjustment. Is this true and what is the proper protocol for obtaining this kit. I have started my 16,000 mile service at 19,000 miles and all of my exhaust valves are at .012, I need in the range of 1.60 to 1.725.

This thread will tell you everything you need to know: CLICKY

I think there's at least one other kit floating around, but I forget who takes care of it. (John O, maybe?)

ST1100 or ST1300?

The STOC member kit Eric Russell manages is oriented to the ST1100 and it's shim sizes which are a bit different than ST1300's, IINM. But the shims are the Honda shims in .025mm increments and I think the Hot Shims in the ST1300 kit are only .050mm. I could be wrong...

Here's the info on the ST1100 kit (must register): ST-Riders: ST1100 Valve Shim Kit

HTH and good luck.

My kit's a HotCams with whatever people have tossed into it. The increments are .050. It's enough to get any out-of-spec valve back into spec; people who have to have it dead-centered just aren't going to sleep real well. :D

Mark's kit has many of the Honda half-step shims as those are what usually come OUT of bike. There's quite a mix. The bins, tho, are in .05 increments so ya have to read every shim to make sure yur picking the right on. I've been adding the next half size UP into each bin as I move'em around.

I've added nearly 100 shims to Mark's kit (all in 1100 sizes) since I've had it, will be carrying it to 'nother Mark soon's his finger heals up enuff (or to wherever Mark sez if someone else needs it sooner.)
