Chevron Delo 400LE

Just switched to Delo 15w40 from Rotella T6, big difference in shifting and noise at all speeds. I like it. :06biker: :D

Zero difference to the Mobil Diesel I was running before, and absolutely no change to the heat factor either. In other words, for half the price it's doing the same job.. :)

I've switched to the Delo 400LE also... I feel some good research went into this post... Thank you, Larry!

I've been using the Delo 400LE now (for almost a year and a half) and after changing all three bikes, I find that there really isn't too much difference in how it feels compared to the Golden Spectro, even after 3 to 4K miles. I usually add about 5oz more than a gallon of the Delo.

That said, I have done about 7 oil changes, so lets see what the cost difference is...

Golden Spectro @39.99 per 4 liters * 7 = ~$280

Delo 400LE @ $12.33 per Gal * 7 = ~$87.

Almost $200 difference! Guess what I'll stick with? :D

Hi Folks,
I wanted to jump in here to say .. I am on the team.
Along with clutch bleeding and switch made to this lube .. I have benifited with smoother gear changes while still maintaining enough clutch grab to lift the front wheel.
And we all know how important a wheelie is .. not.
The real value is in the research done primarilary by Larry/Igofar .. owner/operator of Larry's ST Garage and Academy..
Thanks again sir for the research, recommend and install.
And .. Good math SupraSabre.. thanks.
Take care all,
RM

Ask Justytroll about Royal Purple! I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction.

Does anybody use the Delo synthetic? Russ.

I would recommend using the dino 15-40 version instead, the synthetic stuff is 5wt. oil with an additive package in it to thicken it up to 40 wt. It breaks down a lot faster too in lab tests.

Ran it last year. Very slick shifting (better than with the Delo), zero oil use in 5k miles. Just a bit too $$$.

IKR...

It's Chevron Delo 400 SDE SAE 15W-40, It's $12 a gallon.
Anyone using this iteration? Still as good as the original? Better?

I quit using it, moved on, don't know why, (got to keep better records) Just poured in Castrol Actevo 10-40 MC oil. Don't have much hope it will stay smooth shifting.

I DO know that the semi, or full synthetic versions give bad shifting in 3k miles.

I've put the new stuff in a few motors already.
So far everyone seems to like it. Have not sent any in for UOA yet.
I've been running Valvoline Premium Blue lately, as I always find it on sale.
Its alot quieter than the Rotella T and it does not stink like the shell stuff does ;)

Buy a bike specific oil, either synthetic or non and don't bother overthinking oils. More of it than you would believe comes from the same hole in the ground or the same chemistry set (oversimplification, I know).

Is this what you're all referring to? Or this?

It's fall. The leaves are just beginning to drop. Squirrels busy themselves gathering nuts. And seven year old oil threads bristle with new life...

But.....but....7 years ago.....you sang the praises of the Delo oil....."you'll never go back to what you were using".
And now.....you've switched for a few pennies???

Delo is still one of the best oils I've used.
Valvoline Premium Blue is the Cummins house brand oil, and Cummins will extend the OCI an additional 5,000 miles under warranty in their vehicles with this oil.
That, and the UOA's I've done on it speaks volumes of how good it is.
And its always on sale around me.
