Pictures of different ST police bikes?

I'm ex West Mids, was on the RCS for 9 years, in two stints, and crewed up with quite a few Staffs lads. Did a lot of jobs in the County, best years of my service. Glad I'm not in the job now though!

If you want a few, current pictures of Police ST1300s, just go to Craig's List. Plenty there at all prices! :oilleak:

I think that's the first CHP ST1300 I've seen. Most are on the BMWs or now the Harleys!

Oops, I see that is an Arizona HP! LOL (Glad I took a second look!

Yeah met this one when I bought the tiger. Didn’t want to swap for a few miles. Nor did I get a ticket!

Although our UCDavis pd have ST’s they ride all over campus and the city

My 2009 ST1300PA is rocking out three pairs of the Whelen M4C and Whelen’s Hide-a-LED mounted in the fairings forward of the knee position. The rear is rocking out a pair of Whelen M7R, the SlimLite turn signal, on the side of the mount is the Whelen TIR3, and a custom mount at the license plate for a pair of Soundoff TIR3. The headlight is connected to a headlight flasher. And I would be remiss not to mention the 3M diamond grade 2” reflective tape to round out its awesomeness. 238342238343238344238345238346238347

Aniwack:

The black lower front body fairing on your motorcycle looks very nice in contrast to the white panels. Much nicer, I think, than an all-white motorcycle.

Here are some very old (from about 2001) photos that I have in my collection. I did not take any of them, credit belongs to a person who posted them somewhere (I can't remember where) under the name of "Coppan".

Here's a few photos that I took myself. The motorcycle in question is obviously not a ST, but there's a great story behind these photos:

I was riding the departmental (tertiary) roads in rural France back in 2002, and came across a group of about a dozen French policemen at the side of the road, all riding identical motorcycles. I stopped to talk, and found out that the group consisted of one instructor, and 11 "motorcycle trainees". The instructor told me that his co-instructor was sick that day, he was alone with the trainees, and suggested that I ride "trail" at the end of the group with them. I agreed.

Well.... we set off a a pretty brisk pace, and the pace got faster as we went along. It was way the heck above the speed limits, which at that time were 90 km/h on the back roads... we were hitting 150 km/h on the straights. After about 30 minutes, a bit of a gap was developing between the main group and the two slowest riders, with me at the back. The instructor stopped the group at the side of the road to let the stragglers catch up - and to coach them a bit - and then suggested that I ride ahead of him, to "set the pace" for the group until we reached our final destination.

I politely inquired about exactly what he meant by "set the pace", and he told me that I was free to ride at any speed I wanted, the only restriction being to be reasonable when going through small towns & villages. So... off we went, for another 30 minutes, and I really put the lash to my ST 1100... no speed limits to worry about, and a dozen police directly behind me. For most of the ride, the group managed to stay with me. I had a Garmin StreetPilot on my bike (this was way back in the time when GPS navigators on motorcycles were new and very rare), which meant I could follow the planned route without worrying too much about where the turns or the towns were along the way.

It was a an amazing experience - the group of trainees generally managed to keep up, but not always - and at the end of the ride, the instructor complimented me on "setting the pace" and invited me to join the group for lunch at the training center.

I'll never forget that ride.

Here are some photos of police model Honda motorcycles. I took these photos at the David Silver museum in England. I think that these motorcycles may have been operated in Japan or in Europe - rather than North America - this because of the ivory (rather than bright white) colour of the paint.

One of the bikes has a mechanical siren that is driven by a cable connected to a wheel that rubs up against the rear tire - quite fascinating design.

Quite a remarkably detailed instrument cluster. Note that there are TWO speedometers - I guess the one on the left is the 'official' one.

Note the mechanical siren just aft of the right hand front fork

The one on the left holds the violator's speed. The equivalent of letting them see the reading on the radar gun. Hardly proof of anything but it may have made a difference to somebody.

Wow those are some great pics mihn! Interesting to see cops riding double as is done in cars. I've never seen that. Do the rider and pillion switch off or is there a rank thing?

Makes sense. If nothing else the speedometer would be in KMH instead of MPH. Thanks for the pics!
