Using Wave Intercom function and voip to use cell phones as intercom - sounds like other mesh devices may get a firmware update to provide some of this functionality.

Also, now waterproof !!!

What is mesh?
Briefly...
"Mesh communication refers to a network topology where nodes connect directly and dynamically to as many other nodes as possible, allowing them to cooperate in routing data efficiently. This decentralized structure enhances reliability and fault tolerance, as each node can relay information, reducing dependency on any single point in the network."

Less briefly...

Interesting that Sena is using voip. Our mc club is now using an app on cellphones. This enables people to talk to each other using the Packtalk Edge via cellular techology. No limit on number of folks on the app. No crosstalk from other people using the app, each group is 'keyed' in.

What app?

Eh? Sorry for my ignorance. What is a node?
Can tat be translated into a simple English?

Mesh... is like turning on a CB radio and getting an open channel of everyone else w/Sena mesh that is on that channel.

The Cardo systed requires someone to create a private mesh group and Sena can do that as well.

A node is just another sena device.

It's called Discord. Our BMW club has tested it and used it on a number of group rides this summer. So far so good, from what I have heard. I've not used it...I don't find our members' chatting while riding to be all that scintillating.
Yeah, I don't mind on a 2-3 person ride to have some comms but a larger group than that turns into a riot... lol

Not like I'm in any hurry to swap out my 50S, but I'll confess I'm glad Sena did NOT do away with the capability of WIRED earbuds. (Etymotics ROCK!)
The other tech, even including IPx7, is just icing... and while I do have a sweet tooth, I don't need any of it. I've been fortunate that while riding through rains, I've not yet drowned my 50.
The new price point does not make me want to run right out and get one, either.
All that said, it seems to be me a good thing they're still improving their product.

Glad to hear they’re finally water proof. I took one apart to change a battery and the gasket to make them water resistant is tiny with many curves. With my eye hand coordination, or lack there of, I ended up swearing and throwing it on the floor.

I know they're not supposed to be waterproof, but....
While on 2 trips out to Ohio, both this and last year, I was caught in a deluge each time. Soaked to the skin on this last one...
And my 20s EVO worked through both, and is still ticking,
But of course, YMMV .

I have a sena 50 and I love the quality of sound with Bluetooth connection to my Zumo XT and cellphone for music and directions. When my wife wants to talk, she smacks the side of my helmet and points. Any other communications are not important. I know the sena has intercom abilities to talk with wife and other riders but I have no idea or desire of how to do that.

The mesh feature is fantastic for group rides—it keeps communication smooth as long as everyone is respectful of the shared channel. I have two main concerns with the Sena mesh: battery life (which I can manage) and background noise. Often, I get a white hissing sound from interference caused by poor radio insulation on one bike or another, which becomes unbearable over long distances. Is this a common issue with mesh networks?

Could it be background wind and road noise of all of the bikes combined?

I have had complaints about my 1300's engine when my helmet is open.

Using Wave Intercom function and voip to use cell phones as intercom...
...nice intention, but you might ramp up roaming fees quickly while being abroad...
(had a plus of €100,- for data roaming on my cell for the two weeks in Scotland; no phone calls, main activity were online bookings...)

I'm also not convinced about that constantly open mesh/group chatter... my GF and I maintain a PTT regime on our SENA's...
