Good morning everyone

The outdoor temperature is below freezing but the coffee's good and hot and freshly made (French roast, of course). Have a cup and warm yourself up.

It's 27°F in Rockville- the coldest it's been around here since maybe sometime this past February- and clear. At least the wind has finally died down so it doesn't feel any colder. In fact, from sunup until it starts to rain (predicted to commence at about 1600 hours) it'll feel warmer than it actually is, sometimes by a rather wide margin. We'll top out at 46 measly, paltry, inadequate degrees but the feels like will crest at 53.

Two of my uke friends will come over at 10 for a couple hours of practice and idea sharing, after which we'll go have lunch somewhere.

Not a lot else to report; Brie has settled in nicely and seems to be comfortable in our home. She's endlessly amusing.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

bigger mug, better mood...

G'Day...

-1°/6°C... winds tore the overcast apart, the raising sun suddenly pierced blindingly through the remaining horizontal layers...
(so whilst people gave me 'the stare' for wearing shades at the first traffic light, going around the corner heading east instantly showed that I was the one prepared...)

home Nespresso, office Nescafé... the usual routine... :coffee:

GF will have trouble getting back to hers though... that lazy 'home office wearing sweatpants' thing will come to an end... ;)
Ditto the sleeping in till 0700hrs (that's when I leave the house) to voice that teenager like "... WAHHHHH... I don't wanna get up!..."...

Due the recently closed (meanwhile reopened) gas station at my corner, I had to drop by a discounter (JET) for refueling my trusty Toyota...
Their "premium" is of course not free of issues: injectors rattling at idle, lame response, increased consumption... I barely got 600km out the ~50ltr fill...
Back to my local station (OMV), where premium actually deserves the name: no rattle, engine prompt, agile response, will see my 700km range again...
Yeah, JET is notorious for mixing exorbitant amounts of water into their fuel...
Ever observed cars gushing lots of water out the end-pipe? Likely scrooged owners using the cheapest fuel in their vehicle...

Anyway, Tuesday is Monday's ugly sister... office quite busy today...
and to top it with annoying issues, like clients ordering a) to then complain that they'd actually wanted c) and d)...
Well, maybe should have opened with that then...

have a good one!

Morning all and thanks Keith for getting us started with some French roast.

Below freezing here too and only headed up to a high of possibly 4C under a cloudy sky.

It's November though, and only 38 days until Christmas.

Now if that's too much for you, it also means there's only 44 days until 2026!

You're welcome. Have another sip. You'll be OK.

Hugs,

Obo.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee, Keith.

It's sunny and 33 in MA this morning, rising to 44 with a bit of wind aday.

Yesterday, I got some gym time, and then headed to the range , before visiting with our Son, his wife , and the grandkids.
We had an additional surprise, when our daughter and her husband showed up! She was in town for an equipment install, and stopped by.
Good time!

In other news, I have a new date for my MRI.

Today, I'll head over to the track, for my last day of car practice.

Enjoy your day,
Steve

Thx for coffee Keith, and hugs Obo!
Too much really.
Good intentions though I guess.

2˚c/36f, sun, sleet, hail, almost calm.

Been for a walk uphill.
A slippery slope, but refreshing.
Met nobody, he didn’t even say hello…

The war on mice in the attic is over.
Turned out it was only one stray soldier, and he’s dead now.

Have a good and warm one!
Stu

Slippery today

Aright, aright, aright!
☕️ Coffee's here, gather round,
Or all day long you'll wear a frown.
Not freezing, just feels like it. 48 now but going up to 74 or better today. Just heard a neighbor fire up some inline 4, one street over. I thought it was that blue Suzuki something-or-other that speeds through the neighborhood at too-high rpm, but no. It turned 3 corners and just rode pass our house, but it was a red and black unidentified cruiser that I have never seen before.
Who's buying a new bike this time of year? Maybe he just moved in the neighborhood, but at least he's being respectful with his engine noise.
There were just a very few small, thin cotton balls in the sky as it was lightening a few minutes ago, but now that the sun is coming around, they have disappeared.
Gonna be one of our last few decent (relative term, decent) riding days for a while.
No need for electric clothes just yet, but soon. For now, a judicious extra layer or maybe two will suffice for the morning, to be packed in a pannier to go to lunch, and likely needed for the ride home after dark. I am still most irritated that we haven't rescinded daylight "savings" and flipping clocks back and forth twice a year. It's absurd, through and through.
... and here I was, thinking I would write something positive this morning.
Should have known better.
That's ok, more coffee will help.
And thanks to Joe's efforts y'all can still read and make fun of all the foolishness my worn out old brain can invent.
But don't hold it against him. He works really hard to keep this site going for all of YOUR wisdom, too.

Good morning, all. Thanks for the hot cup of comfort this morning, Keith.

47/72 and cloudy. Light rain tonight. The weather is too boring for the weather guessers, as they have issued an ALERT for Saturday (4 days out). The warning is for ………more rain. I’m gonna hold off on building an ark, until the clouds get a little darker.

Gotta take Teddy to Tractor Supply this morning. He has this weird habit of wanting to be fed daily, and evidently we’re running low on kibble.

John

Good morning, all, and thanks for the steaming cup of caffeinated goodness, Keith!

It's cold here, too: -1°C/30°F with a feels-like of -7°C/19°F now, and it will only get up to about 1°C/34°F today (but will still feel considerably colder).
Met nobody, he didn’t even say hello…

That reminds me of a little poem called "Antigonish," written by William Hughes Mearns in 1899:

Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today,
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

When I came home last night at three,
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall,
I couldn't see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don't you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don't slam the door...

Last night I saw upon the stair,
A little man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today,
Oh, how I wish he'd go away...

OK, folks, I've got to run - I've plunged back into the world of freelancing and am neck-deep into the translation of two, several-thousand-word, extremely technical documents concerning the refurbishment of two sections of major highway. The first doc is due end of day today, so I'd best get a move on.

Everybody have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

I have a collection of punk Christmas carols that always give me glee during Holiday shopping. Headphones in, folks have no idea....

Sample here if it's your kind of thing....

I also like to break out Ren & Stimpy's Crock O Christmas album....

For all you holiday purists, I'm sorry. I do enjoy the holiday for everything is is and stands for, but it's how I deal with the pressures that come along with the holidays. Since I can't avoid the holidays nor ride my motorcycle; laughter & absurdity is the next best therapy / coping mechanism.

Well, that's almost an excuse.
But can we please agree to wait at least until after Thanksgiving?
Unless you're wearing headphones!
Your cooperation is appreciated.

I know yours is coming but up here Thanksgiving is done, and Christmas has been started puking in stores, tv, radio and online since just before our Remembrance Day (Nov 11th.) It's in full swing here now with newspaper fliers, music, store displays, annual holiday parades.... In fact my MIL has her place fully decorated including the tree. Looks like something out of an advertising agency with unlimited budgets. Like I alluded to above, it's a lot of pressure for some of us.

Morning all! Grey and overcast here with the odd bit of blue sky doing its best to break through. It's 7 C here with a predicted high of 9C.

Was having trouble with wifi in my home office so I picked up a mesh network kit by TP-Link on the weekend. I asked the guy at the computer store if he was sure I'd only need the two stations as opposed to three given the long run from where the router sits and the fact that it's in the laundry room (totally kicking myself for not wiring the house when we did the reno), but he assured me two should do it. Welp, it didn't. I jury rigged it by plugging in google pucks to the one station and then using the other two to bridge into the office from there. I expect the wise thing would be to go pick up two more TP-Link stations. I don't tend to do the wise thing however so it may remain jury rigged.

Peppermint, oof. Sounds like a tough road ahead of you.

Hope everyone has a great day and feel free to deck anyone who puts up bells!

This what you're using? If so I don't think you needed the tp-link.

Morning Keith & All from a wet morning in Southern Utah!

Currently, besides wet, it is 45F, up from 41F and heading for 47F. Since midnight, we've gotten .02" of wetstuff. And promises of more for the next three days. We'll see. Not too much of a breeze yet, but later the winds will be out of the S @ 7 to 8mph.

By the time I get in "Christmas Spirit" it's already New Years day, time seems to be speeding up, for me.

I totally agree! If it wasn't for Chris, there wouldn't be any Holiday Sprit in this house. I feel like it's all about getting people to spend themselves into debt, that they can't afford! :cautious:

Yesterday, I went out to try to start putting the siding I have around the deck of the shed. But with the drizzling and wind, I gave up.

After lunch I got a call from our local locksmith, he was sent the parts to. ONCE AGAIN fix my safe's electronic lock. This is the third time the locks have failed on it! It took him a while to get back into it, since the first time he had to drill it and then put a "plug" into it. so this time, he had to drill through the plug, which are case hardened. But he got it opened and put the new lock in. We'll see how long this one lasts!

Today, is an inside day, so maybe I'll clean up my office. :giggle:

Hot cereal with toast and OJ. Pepsi(s) will come later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
