Wednesday morning coffee is different...
It’s not hopeful like Monday coffee...
It’s not celebratory like Friday coffee...
It’s more like, “Okay… let’s just survive whatever this is.”... :coffee:

G'Day...

5°/16°C, blue skies, sun... some haze...

mulling about adding shot of Whiskey to my morning Nespresso... ☕

another weird day at the office...
'What am I approved to be blamed for today?'... 🤔

Afternoon is blocked with some "Workshop" mandatory for all employees...
Interesting that they do find money to book a professional blame-storming, but not to send out paychecks... 🤔
And then they rant why all the inquiries have been left unanswered...

Ah... also this shall pass...

the bag liners for ze GF's NT700VA have arrived, they look well made, the fabric superior to her previous set...
Riding, something to look forward too...

And, the week is almost over...

Morning all, and thanks Martin for the startup.

I'm sure your Czech is in the male. Wait, that's the punchline from a bad joke.
So is not getting paid. That whole I show up on time and work my hours in exchange for funds contract agreement both parties agreed to.

0 here, possibly headed to 1. The rain?? starts this afternoon, but it might be ice, or freezing rain, or snow. I'm hoping for just rain, if those are the only choices. Time will tell, as they say.

Lots to do, so best get at it.

Enjoy your day!

Obo.

good morning and thanks for the start
orange mango watered down a bit no whiskey for me but could have used a shot earlier getting five week old stitches yanked out from around my implants; a bit of freezing perhaps? No not for me thanks, but thanks for the offer [not] pain that brought more than a tear to my eye. It was like watching The Grapes of Wrath all over again...
speaking of work...

au contraire... suddenly its decided that I'm responsible for e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. ...
I like to think of it more as, getting blamed for everything - no follow up required :run1:

But when you do get to the bottom of some of this stuff, why even bother, just [re]bury it and lie :oops:20260310_120232.jpg

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start , Martin.

It's 43 and partly cloudy in MA this morning rising to 60, later .

We made it back home around midnight , and I'll head out to a Dr's appointment this morning. This will be an annual inspection , sorta.

I'm sure that we've got some grocery shopping to do, as well. We'll see what else is on the horizon , once Brenda wakes.

Enjoy your day ,
Steve

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the mid-week coffee, Martin.

It's 58°F and mostly clear in Rockville as the sun rises on what will be our last unseasonably warm and mild day for a while. The high will be 79 or so, with clouds building and small chances of rain this evening.

I'll do some yard cleanup today, and run a few errands. Perhaps a visit to the gym will make its way onto the agenda as well.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Hi everyone, thanks for the Java Martin.
Another warm day (~83!!!), but storms expected this evening.
Oddly, weather person on the radio said something to the effect of (after rain, hail, damaging winds, etc.) "We can expect all types of dangerous weather."
Huh?
We're gonna see hurricanes and cyclones and tsunamis and avalanches, 250 miles inland? What is this, a disaster movie coming on?
Climate danger is still a thing, I guess.
But I'm riding to work today, anyway.
I did just barely get home to the driveway yesterday, before the overnight rain got to us. Started feeling BIG, soft raindrops a couple hundred yards up the street. With all the rain gear stowed safely in my saddlebags. 😁
And still no oil leaks, with the original crush washer.
Must be the rebel in me.
Or, the cheapskate in me, more likely.
But whatever.
Obviously not much happening in my life.
For whoever can use this:
I have a very responsible job!
Anytime something goes wrong, I'm responsible.
Have a good day, y'all.

G'day all. Shot of whiskey in the coffee, eh? Hmmm...perhaps not such a bad idea on a day like today.

It is currently -2°C/28°F and very windy, so it feels more like -9°C/16°F...or so they say. I'm not going out there to verify that information. It's also grey and dismal and wet, and the forecast says that what is currently falling is "light freezing rain." That will change - drastically - in about an hour, when the precipitation morphs into 100% freezing rain, which will keep falling steadily for the rest of the day. The original estimate of 30 mm (1.2 inches) of ice accretion has changed to 45 mm (1.8") in some areas. Either way, that's a lot of ice and can do a whole lot of damage. We're told the storm will very likely last up to 24 hours in areas to the east of us and on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, so Montreal might (and I do say "might") be spared the worst, as the freezing rain is supposed to change over to plain rain at around 10 p.m., then keep falling as light rain for a few hours before clearing up by morning. I hope that's accurate, and that the power stays on in the meantime. @Obo: It looks like your part of the country will get it a lot worse than we will, so fingers crossed for ya.

Right, I'll go see what I can get done while the lights are still on. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

Good morning, all. Thanks, Martin.

Another spring day..70/79, with afternoon storms and 1” of rain. Can’t complain, but next week we drop into the low 20’s. Then, I’ll complain.

@Peppermint I’m still picking up tree limbs that are falling after our ice storm in January. Every time a strong wind blows, more broken limbs shake loose and fall.

I’m driving to Lawrenceburg this morning to have a serious talk with my CPAP supplier. They turned over their phone support to an India call center, who just reads from a script, and don’t know enough English to answer any simple question. Then when the connection drops, they call from another phone that my provider blocks, listed as a known SPAM call center. They even sent me a standard form letter, without filling in the blanks. Pffftt.

Morning all! The grey and wet remains. 5C now, 9C later with a wind warning.

Took the cage to work today given the precipitation and, at the time I left home, the low temperatures. I haven't perfected my ice riding skills quite yet. Today's work adventure will be a visit to the library at the Courthouse to see if I can chase down an obscure fact about float in a construction schedule. I can honestly say that this profession continues to surprise and educate me on the infinite variety of things that we hairless apes manage to come up with.

Hope everyone is able to ride out their impending stormy weather without any bother.

And I hope everyone has a great day!

Morning Martin & All from mixed clouds and Sun, in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 39F, up from 27F and heading for 59F. A slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the N @ 9 to 14mph.

As a Software Configuration Management, Keeper of the Code, we were always blamed for all apps that weren't correct in a release. That was until we produced the document that stated what version of the code they requested. Idiots!

I picked up four 8' 4x4s and four deck piers for the Greenhouse shed. Today is Costco day, so I'll get back to the GH tomorrow.

Eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Don't loose any sleep over it.... sorry, I had to.

float in a construction schedule

In general project scheduling, "float" is the amount of time a given item can be delayed (start or finish) before it moves onto the critical path and affects the overall completion schedule.

What's the obscure fact you need? Just curious, I never worked in construction so I'm ignorant of possible nuances and arcane implications.

G'dafternoon from SoMD! It is very warm here now, 86F/30C, in advance of a cold front supposed to bring some thunderbooms and splatters later tonight. The coffee has been well received here, thank you, Martin!

Another unthrilling WFH day, certainly nobody blaming me for oopsies (that was yesterday and it wasn't me, the accuser fessed up to his poor math). Later I'll grab more handfuls of weeds and walk the Princesses. #1 is recovering well considering after having a teeth cleaning and two premolars pulled. Also got her some pain meds for her arthritis in the hind area. She's going on 14 years, so the joints get ouchy considering all the stairs we have in the house.

you have to be 'found responsible' first to even qualify for 'blame'...
That's called "getting thrown under the bus". Usually he who is not present gets the charge, but you somehow manage to attract others' culpability in full face.

So 3rd stage is "responsible" or "competent?"
Our gov't does not have those two words together anywhere...some say the second is nonexistent. That optimism is heartening though.

I’m driving to Lawrenceburg this morning to have a serious talk with my CPAP supplier.
Boy, I'd love to ride along just to hear this convo.

Welp, time to get moving. Take care y'all!
