Happy Birthday, Daboo

Thank you all! If I make it to next year, I'll be able to say I'm "three-quarters of a century old"! Wow! It's a big deal at 20 to say you're two decades old, but to put your age in terms of almost being a century old??? :D

No, I didn't go for any wonderful rides today. My tires will be good for my trip to the Sierras in a bit over a week, but there won't be a lot left over. So I just took the rest of the day after teaching at Damascus House and relaxed.

But I had something "funny" happen today. First thing was getting a phone call from Puget Sound Gastroenterology. Really! The voicemail was an obvious artificial voice wishing me a Happy Birthday. What?! I guess I should be happy they didn't say something like, "And while we have you on the phone, would you like to make an appointment for your next colonoscopy?" :D :D :D

Then I also got a Happy Birthday text message from "WA001 Edmonds". Now who the heck is that? So I looked it up and found it was possibly from Swedish - Edmonds Hospital airlift. Really?! I did get medevaced, but that was in Northern California two years ago. Are they expecting to meet me soon?

Strange stuff.

Seems to be a new marketing strategy. This had never happened to me before but a while back I also got an email out of the blue from an unknown source wishing me a happy birthday. It turned out to be from a car rental agency that I had rented a car from last year. They record the information from your drivers license for the rental contract so they have your date-of-birth and they obviously keep it for marketing purposes.

How anyone working in a company's marketing department who has half a brain can possibly think that a random emotionless computer generated birthday greeting from a faceless company will be received by me with anything but disdain as it is nothing more than irritating junk mail that has to be dealt with can possibly be a good marketing strategy baffles me.

And on that note, from someone whom you have never met or spoken with and who is only a computer acquaintance- allow me to wish you belated happy birthday!

Happy Birthday! God made you to be a Man of God!
