I need to buy a rear tire for my ST1300 and I down to two choices: 1) PR2 - Have been relatively happy with this tire in the past and feel that it would be a safe choice. Currently have a PR1 on the rear that I am anxious to change.; and 2) Metzler Z8 - I have ridden on Metzlers before, but never tried one on my ST1300.

So I was hoping that someone could share their experience with Metzler Z8 tires on a ST1300. I ran several Z4's and Z6's on my ST1100, but haven't seen too much information on the Z8's.

I have had the last two sets Z8's. I watch my tire pressures and get around 12,000 out of a set. You can't go wrong purchasing the Z8.

I just ordered a Metzler Z8 rear from Two Brothers. Not sure if I will get 12K miles out of it, but I'm glad to hear that you were happy with the tire.

After reading the blurb on Metzler's site it sure sounds good. The part I like the best is that it is a single compound tire. I'm not sold on the dual compound yet. Sport bikes, maybe but not (sports)touring. Of the tires available for the ST, how many are steel belted?

I know the OP was about a rear tire only but there has been a response mentioning a "set". The Z8 is not available in a front size for the ST1300.
