Well, I went and did it! I bought the Wrecked 2010 ST1300. I just rode 130 miles round trip to get the deposit on it. I'll pick it up on Saturday.

After I strip off 99% of my farkles (to move them to the 2010), I'll be selling the '04.

The 2010 will be changing colors...So I don't have to get a new shirt, I'll be making it '04 Blue ;)

New SHIRT! You know, my Avatar! :rofl1:

Observed damage (of what you can see) is Pipes are scratched up. saddlebags have a few scratches. The upper stay is bent. Forks/front end is straight. Missing lots of stuff, so ebay will be my friend!..;)

It will require some cleanup, has been sitting for a while, but it does run...good! Heard it last month. :D

I picked it up off Craig'sList. They started at $4,399. Got them down to 2,799 (plus tax/lic and their commission OTD was $3,300.)

Looks like the crash bars are ground down a bit on both sides but I would expect more damage to the saddle bags. That is the odd part. Not a bad deal though. Hard to say mileage without a cluster.

No need to change it to Blue, Black goes with everything. :)

Bob, is your 04 an ABS?
No Jeff, it is not.

Not sure of the mileage... when they were first advertising it they said 1,500 miles. I look at it and said no way, that it has at least 5K, maybe a few K more.

Since it is in a consignment shop, I'm not dealing directly with the "owner", and I'm not getting a lot of info. But by looking it over, it has less than 10K on it for sure. Probably original tires and they look to still have more than 50% of the tread.

Oh yeah, this is ABS!

No need to change it to Blue, Black goes with everything. :)
I just like the Blue color...and since just about everything needs paint or replacing, might as well paint/replace it with a color I like! :D

I don't understand why you would want to slow that nice black bike down...maybe worried about performance awards? :shrug2: :rofl1:

Looks great! And since you still have a bike to ride while you fix it, you can have the patience to wait for the best deals on parts. I tried to do that when fixing up my old 1100, but then I ended up getting talked into a 2000 mile round trip road trip...and I had less than 2 weeks to finish the bike. It got expensive...LOL.

Good luck fixing her up! (and blue IS a nice color!)

Bob, you are going to need a dealers license if you keep buying and selling bikes. Good luck with the repairs.

Mike, I wish I had the capital to invest in something like that. I enjoy rebuilding these bikes, just not enough money in it to make a living with. :( Thanks! :D

Looks like your starting about where I was on my 07, but I had all the plastics. If they have ANY plastics/bolts/screws take them, they add up quick, and plastics are easy to fix and paint.
I would find a G.M.D Computrack location near you to verify the bikes geometry, before you start spending money. Cost about $250.00 to get it verified that all the frame and suspension are all factory spec's. This will also help if you decide to sell it. Since all the fairings are off, all the work is done :) .
Start scanning Ebay daily, and jump on parts. Cowl stay, go with the police model. Its stronger and was actually cheaper.
If you only get the bike, no fairings, cowl, nada, your looking about $1.5 -3K in new and used parts, if the used parts can be found.
They do make after market fairing packages, but they need a little work to make them fit OEM.

Good luck with it .

I have a hard enough time just keeping the four bikes that I have running correctly. No money or time to take on a rebuild project. Can't seem to find any killer deals around here. Anyway, I'd rather be riding instead..........If it would ever stop snowing this month.:

Steve, would love to have company, but I think the wife already has plans to go with me. :)

Great idea about the Cop Cowl Stay, didn't think of that before. And PartZilla has them for only $155. :D

Yeah, when I was building the '04, some parts came from ebay and some came from Honda. It's hard finding "New" plastic on ebay.

You meationed those Tupperware "Kits" from China, have you tried any yet? Know of anyone that has? If so, what kind of hastle are they and are they worth it... or is it, you get what you pay for? :eek:4:

I'm not sure if you'll replace the exhaust, but a guy here in Portland is selling his stock exhaust cheap: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/mcy/3751032315.html
Thanks! One thing I'm trying to figure out.

I have a set of 2010 Cop pipes on the '04.

I also have a brand new right side for a 03-07.

So if I put the pipes off the '04 on the 2010, put the scratched up pipes from the 2010 on the '05 and the '05s pipes on the '04, that just might work until I sell one of the bikes and purchase a new 03-07 pipe to match the new one...:think1:
