I was riding to work this morning, and my speedometer just stopped working. Is the speedo gear driven on the 1300? And is this a common failure? The tach and all dash stuff appeared to be working fine.

You getting any blink codes on the FI light.

Replaced mine a couple of weeks ago, see Mellow's link. Pretty straght forward. Hardest part for me was finding the connection to the wire harness. I'll try and post some pics this weekend. PM me if you have questions.

Well this little set back has been a blessing in disguise. I went to work on the bike and checked the front brakes, and the pads are almost gone, I have the parts on hand but I was going to go on a trip this weekend and get into some twisties. I probably never would have checked that closely and it could have caused some major mechanical damage or failure. I will try and do a picture tutorial when the speed sensor comes in.
