Alright! Time to get this party started! Changing tires (and possibly brands):

I need to replace some ailing tires soon and am looking for advice on good inexpensive tires. I've been a Michelin guy for a long time and am trying to expand my horizons (and wallet! $$).

Any advice on good deals on replacement sets would be greatly appreciated! :D

Thanks in advance!

I've gone through 3 complete sets of Bridgestone T-30's now and really like them.
Pros: A lot cheaper than the Michelins. Grip well and predictable. Front wears incredibly well with little to no scalloping over it's life (causing noise and vibes)
Cons: Rear life sucks; lucky to get up to 5k mi. Been repeatedly getting a 2:1 rear front ratio, whereas the Mich's were more like 1:1 for me.

We had this conversation last time. T30 GTs are crisp handling tires in wet and dry and are inexpensive. I'm getting around 8,000 miles out of a rear and the best I ever got out of a PR3 was about 10,000 IIRC. The T30 Evos are supposed to grip a bit better in the rain but I've had no issue with the original T30s and I'll stick with them. Shop around for $240 a set.

T30 EVO GTs. Love them on my ST. Handle great and less expensive than comparable Michelins/Pirellis/Avons/Metzlers. Better mileage than the older T30 GTs.

Hwy 116 in TN has the most intimidating switchbacks I have ever encountered. Did it last time in the rain on T30 EVO GTs and did not slip a bit.

Much of the surface used to be all beat up from coal trucks but I hadn't been across it in years. Repaved?

The section I looked at looked good. I just went straight for the twisties. JM seems to live nearby and probably knows a lot more than me googling from VA.:

Looks like a fun road!
