Hey Afan. Stuff some clean rags into those intake ports before you drop something in there!
Good one. I was rushing myself to take a picture before of the hoses before removed...
Thanks.

I doubt this is the source of your problem. The only way any gas is going to leak there is if one or more of the float bowl drain screws is not fully seated. Are they...?

Hi John,
That's good point.
I can't check right now because the bike and carbs are at friend's shoppe, but I plan to work on my bike tomorrow and I'll let you know. I didn't plan to rebuild the carbs but I will do some cleaning.

Last night disassembled and checked all 4 float bowls - they were (almost) perfectly clean. O-rings are in good condition. Float bowl drain screws are also good.

My bet would be on a carb float that 'sticks' open then unsticks itself. Or could be a piece of trash stuck in the mechanism somewhere. IIRC, the ST1100 floats are hollow. See if one of them is pinholed (fills up with gas in use then empties while sitting). Just some guesses.
+1

afan, while you're in there make sure to check the floats for any leakage. And, a very tiny piece of debris can get stuck between the float needle and its seat and prevent it from sealing. pull off each float/needle and inspect the tip of the needle for any debris. Then check the seat that it fits into and make sure its clean too.

I had a similar issue. When I sat on the bike it put pressure on the line , or the clamp, to the fuel filter and somehow leaked. When not on the bike it did not leak. Once the fuel lines were changed, clamped, and re-routed, the problem was fixed.

I'm ordering parts. Can somebody please check my post on this thread and confirm I picked correct items?
Thanks.

Also, can't find part number for the o-ring on drain screw. I want to replace them too.

P.S. What the number 1 in the square box means?

it means you get both the o-ring and the gasket with one part number, so that answers your other question about the o-ring part number as well.

I was assuming that but couldn't find the #1 item to make the order. Look

Wow, I've not seen that pic before. Looks like an ST1100. Is there a story behind that?

I believe the story was,,, that you should replace the inter-tank (between upper and lower) connection hose,, every time the tank is tilted for service. This seems like a lot,,, but I guess there were incidents,,, and my fsm does indeed say that. In my case,,, I don't know the age of the hose,,, or if it has ever been changed at all. My tank has now been tilted up for about 3 months, while I do winter maintenance. Given that the hose may very well be deteriorated,, cracked and age/heat hardened,, even though it looks good,, better play safe this time around. Cat'
